    Any idea why it gets so hot? It has been about two days and after like 10 minutes of use, it gets roasting hot. I mean the volume buttons are quite literally nearly burning hot.

    Yet performance is excellent and battery life is quite decent. Any ideas on what I should try. If it was BlackBerry 10 then I would know what to do, but never really used an android phone before so any pointers are helpful.

    Shouldn't get as hot as it does no matter what the phone is doing in the 'background'. But it does. Sadly.

    It's in settings somewhere. I don't have an android device on 5.1 so I'm not sure where exactly, but you should be able to find it. Or you can download an android task manager like Android Assistant

    Settings > battery

    Will show what is the most power.

    I think to see cpu usage you'll need a third party app.
