After the update, I am now able to move apps to the external SD card.

However, I was wondering.... besides having all of your apps readily available if you do a factory reset... is there any other advantage for moving apps to the SD card?

From what I've seen over on some of the Android sites.... it's best to leave app on the internal memory as it is faster and more reliable than an SD Card, unless you really need the space.

If you do a factory reset... you'll still have to reinstall the apps. Don't assume that having an app on an SD Card is a "backup" of all the data you would need to restore an App.

The only real advantage to moving apps to the SD card is to free up space on the device should you come close to filling it up.

As well, if you do a factory reset, your device won't recognize the apps you have installed on the SD card unless you re-install them (which will overwrite the old installation). This is because when you install apps to the SD card, only a part of the app is moved to the SD card (granted, it's a significant portion of the app) while a few very important pieces are still on the main device with links to the rest of the package on the SD. If you reset the device, those links are gone. One of the reasons for this is to prevent someone from swapping in their own SD card with apps on it that may compromise security.
