I'd say with all those apk files, the Venice will be running a highly customized experience..

Still have to wonder... when did they start this process?
You just beat me!!! This should liven up the debate!
A long time ago. In fact, I've seen BlackBerry Contacts and BlackBerry Calendar in the Android image contained in my Passport.
Just run App Ops in a BlackBerry 10.3.2 image. You'll see those apps, and almost everything in the AOSP.
As long as my pp get's the update with gestures i'm fine.
Otherwise i'll have to think about it seriously

Cool- a BlackBerry Android would be better than a Google driven one

Agreed. I'm happy to see 'confirmation' (such as it is) of the Hub as well since there was some speculation that it would not be available.
Edit: Of course all of this is speculation...
There are no bbassistant.apk and bbkeyboard.apk ;))

What's BlackBerry Bide?

Guess the screen couldn't capture all of them :D
Optimism you know

Yes! If than as an Update to my PP and my Leap

I just want a rootable Android.
XDA forums + BlackBerry Venice (or Passport) = customizations galore
Then it probably won't be the blackberry android......if they plan to market this thing as the best in security....

Bbhub.apk has stoped unexpectedly
PassportSQW100-1/10.3.2.2339
No for laughs...seriously
Good point though

Blend . . . ?

If they do, they better make sure that the hub in Android is as good as it is in BlackBerry 10.

Hahaha. Funny but sadly a real possibility..

So, is it mean that BlackBerry import all the popular apps of BB10 to Slider Android? I'm sure BlackBerry did find way to secure this Slider Android.
It's likely that.
Slider runs android with a root of trust.
BlackBerry experience suite apps as announced will be embedded into the launcher
Bes 12 secures "corporate data" in a closed container (android for work)
Likely has google services stock.
In Squircle I Trust
At least you get a message with Android. I have had the hub lock up a couple times on me in 10.3.2.2339.

Glad to see Tasks, Notes, Calendar and Contacts as BlackBerry Apps and of course the best of all, the Hub. No one has to use Google Calendar, Maps or YouTube but with the Venice they finally CAN (at full speed)!

Hopefully we'll see all the stock BlackBerry software including BlackBerry Travel and Password Keeper and that they run as well on Android as in BB10. Then I will seriously consider retiring my Classic. Maybe we'll see an official announcement in the very near future.
I can't wait to see screenshots of this. Hopefully BlackBerry's take on Android will be more visually consistent than BB10. I'm sure it'll be fine, functionally.

Do the tasks and notes .apks mean that they're killing that horrendous remember app?
And I wonder if I'll be able to back up some of the .apks and blackberry-ify my old android tablet, or if they'll be locked to the blackberry hardware?
