    BlackBerry Priv review | MobileSyrup.com

Pretty good review. It's clear they actually used the BlackBerry Priv for significant time before writing a review unlike many other reviewers. They also didn't focus on BlackBerry as a company but rather the device.

What's interesting about this review is they stated an update is coming by the end of this month supposedly to improve performance. That's good news.

One surprising view is they basically say the phone is no more secure than a current Samsung phone. Surprising.

I think the security is really hard to show. its mostly done at the hardware level to prevent rooting and such. DTEK is good for detecting but at this point is limited on action. Its probably a step above Knox but again there aren't great ways of showing this.

If the device can survive people rooting it then its better than knox

But as other people have pointed out if you get down to rooting then you are a bit stuffed anyway - the most secure devices on the market for consumers would be the two nexus devices which have 6.0 running on then, the 6P also has an hardware efuse (not sure about 5x) plus you know for certain you will get the security patches every 28 days. Moreover currently for privacy purposes they have stronger user definable controls than the priv.

Android security concerns are slightly overblown anyway as when you start reading into the details of malware they almost always seem to come down to people turning off protection to load cracked apks from shady third parties.

So you can have less apps than BB10?

You like putting money into a bucket and pouring it down the storm drain in front of your house?

There have been suggestions that Priv and DTEK were aimed at running on Marshmallow, and Marshmallow ties into the Priv's security features better, but Marshmallow wasn't ready in time for the launch of the Priv, so we will see much better security enhancement when Priv gets it's Marshmallow upgrade. The Priv also has been reported as having other hardened features not present on Samsung phones.

Good these one or two day reviews are ridiculous. There is no way someone could give a honest after using a phone for two days .
