    Hey all,

So I got my Priv a few hours ago and spent a long time setting it up. Then I decided to set a picture password on my phone. Well, I set the number in the spot, and I forgot where the heck it goes. Now I'm locked out of my phone AND the OS didn't ask me to ever input a secondary password in case the picture password failed.

How do I get back in my phone???

This isn't a flaw...it did exactly what is supposed to do...lock out someone without the correct picture password

This is something that almost happened to me and I knew where the number went and what it was. Got down to my last attempt and puckered my ****. Luckily I got it. It should ask you to set a secondary passkey and before it sets let you know it'll wipe after ten failed attempts before you set this.

No. It did not ask me to set up a pin or secondary password.

From what I recall when I setup Picture Password on BB10, it also had you set a Device PIN which you are prompted for if there are too many errors on Picture Password. Seems like the PRIV does not do that.

As someone else mentioned, a security wipe may be in the near future.

It did not ask me to set up a secondary password or PIN. This is something it should have done, from my understanding.

Also, I turned off device wipe after 10 times. Ugh. Now I'm going to have to go to the AT&T store to get this damn thing figured out.

No. I didn't. It was supposed to set up a PIN or something. It did not ask me to do this.

This isn't user error. I firmly believe the security of the picture password is too sensitive. I never had this problem on my z10. I only ever failed an attempt due to random finger swiping. I almost failed all ten times because the number was off 1/100th of a mm.

picture password defaults to typing a pin once you do it too many times wrong.
To activate Picture password you have to enable PIN didn't you?

This may have been intentional on BlackBerry's part to "harden" the phone by forcing a single authentication path as opposed to having a secondary one that could be further exploited. Just spit balling.

Code 14 error! The problem is 14 inches in front of the screen! Lol

That's unfortunate. I wouldn't call it a flaw though, it's designed to do just that. On BlackBerry 10 the biggest complain with picture password was that people forget their secondary password since they never use it.

Nothing much you can do. I don't have a Priv... some phone will wipe (like BlackBerry), some phone will lock you up for a certain period. Good luck !

Sounds like that is not enforced with the PRIV like it is with BB10.

In the video linked below, you can see them setup the picture password, it does not prompt for a Device PIN.

Good thing you just set it up, do a restore and start over and save yourself a lot of time, and maybe a more simple password method next time.

Okay. How do I manually wipe the phone? I disabled that function on the lock screen.

We've already established I'm a moron, can we move past this?

No. Not asking me to set up a secondary password/PIN is a huge flaw. I now have a 10 ounce useless brick.
