I need help understanding this post on Android Central:

    Most Secure Android Phone https://www.androidcentral.com/best-phone-security

I always thought BlackBerry was much more secure than Android. And that BlackBerry on Android was the most secure Android phone. Can someone please explain how the Pixel is better? This is a sincere question from someone who doesn't know enough to know.

    Thanks.

Having the latest Android, being more transparent than BlackBerry, and the rest of the phone besides security push it to the top, according to the "Why the Google Pixel is the best" paragraph.

I think BlackBerry Android just got a short mention because it really isn't on most people's radar.

I would argue that hardened M is probably more secure on most points than vanilla N, but that the KEYone's hardened N will be better for sure on every point.

Security updates are critical, and for the most part BlackBerry Android is doing well, but does it have the long term backing of a large company like Google or Samsung? You know the answer to that.

    There's some aspects.

Google has been the company to beat in security updates and up until this month Blackberry has been giving them a run for their money although we're halfway through April now and with most without the April security update that is certainly a negative.

Anyways, not only is Google keeping the Pixel up-to-date with both prompt security updates and major version updates (where BB does only the former), BlackBerry's security additions to the base OS is a tad harder to quantify "how much more secure" their flavor of Android is.

Also I believe the process is more transparent whereas right now all the news we have from BB regarding the April security update is that it is not ready and with circumstantial evidence at best regarding the availability of major upgrades like 7.x Nougat.
(Google may not have a great update lifespan (Two years of major OS updates + one more of just security) compared to Apple, but it's clearly defined on their pages for each model.

Right now all we have to go off of is BlackBerry's BB10 past and how they have handled the Priv so far.)

I thought BlackBerry did a lot more than just the Android monthly updates. And I know that BlackBerry is doing a fairly good job at updating, but Rogers SUCK! My Priv is still on the February update. I hear that Telus is much better. Wait....too funny. Just got my update now. I wonder what happened to March and April? Looks like they provide the patch every month for 12 months, then it went to 2 moths and now every 3 months.....can't wait until September when I get my next patch.

In another thread on Updates, a BB employee posted that Rogers had a filter set wrong for certain phones and the delayed the update for some/many.....
