would be wonderful to wake up and find out that the bean counters were able to find a way to use the previous Priv set up, with updated guts. and roll out a Priv II that would satisfy and not loose money, with those who really want it able to afford it.

I snagged a Nokia 8 Sirocco from Amazon last week for a few reasons: it was a device I've never tried, I've never done the last-years-flagship thing before, I liked the dimensions, I loved the styling and the look when I first saw it. I've got all the core BlackBerry apps installed thru the cobalt manager (BlackBerry keyboard, launcher, calendar, etc) and I'm loving it. The 5.5" pOled has the same crisp resolution, battery lasts 5-7 hrs screen on time, enjoyable to use w/ 1 hand (just like my beloved priv, and unlike my KEYᵒⁿᵉ) and I'm finally enjoying all the aspects of my phone w/ no issues, from longer Netflix sessions to audio (priv loudspeaker has a bit more depth, but the 24hz dongle is clearly higher quality on the Nokia). The most recent bug on my priv is - Google play updates has an error when checking for updates. 2019 has not been kind to my fav BlackBerry lol

I had a PRIV that died on me, too. Have been using Her Maj's old Galaxy S4 mini for six weeks as a temporary measure. It was OK: it served a purpose, but the light pink case didn't really suit me!

This week I took delivery of a new Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The colours are very rich, the battery life is superb, the specialist charger fills the battery in next to no time, and it supports wireless charging. The keyboard is supplied by Swiftkey, and I'm getting on with it reasonably well.

There are drawbacks:
1) SD card not supported;
2) a new nano memory card is and it will fit into slot usually available to sim2. 128Gb available from Amazon (exclusively) for GB£ 45.66. OUCH! Luckily, I have 128Gb internal memory, so it's not an issue at the moment;
3) it uses USB-C. It means I have to use adaptors and buy new cables.
4) as seems to be the trend these days, no 3.5mm hole. BUT it comes with an adaptor.

Full spec of phone is Huawei Mate 20 Pro 4G 128GB Dual Sim (Blue). A Google search will help you find a good deal.

Quite correct. Swiftkey is no substitute for PKB, but as I can't get a BlackBerry VKB from Google Play Store, I'll have to make do.

I've downloaded cobalt's BlackBerry manager on all my phones and ran the vkb from bb, on my LG's, Motos, Huawei, etc. My second fav would be Fleksy, but I've never liked it quite as much. Just Google search BlackBerry apps on android for the link

I followed your lead and downloaded the Cobalt thing - I feel as if I now have a virtual BlackBerry! I was getting the hang of SwiftKey, but it didn't produce CAPITALS when I long-pressed any key. The downside is that the numeric keys are hidden, but for me the pros outweigh the cons.

I would suggest factory reset, and if the battery doesn't hold a charge like before, use power/battery saving mode. But that's just me. Could also replace the battery.

A Galaxy S11 wouldn't be released until March of next year.

That with my KEYone is the OEM soft shell case (which I paid like $45 for) which is the only KEYone case in existence that keeps the phone's slim feel in hand and doesn't add any bulk.

I really love that case so it's not easy for me to part out with it, but the Pixel 3 happens to be one of the only slabs I have any interest in.

It's the best Android phone I've used imo honestly. For me the pixel 3 and Honor 8 (and they are so alike in terms of experience- great one handed device, camera, smooth). Is keyone EOL?

I'm on my Priv typing on the PKB as we speak! I have an iPhone 8 plus for work and other then the camera, iPhones and iOS in general is completely garbage.

I just need one BlackBerry vendor to take on the challenge of creating a new Priv2 and I'll ditch that POS iPhone like a bad habit.

We probably will see another Android slider device at some point. Chances are it'll be a niche product, from a smaller company like the Unihertz Titan. I definitely don't see a mainstream OEM doing this any time soon, although I still argue that the slider form factor is really the best of both worlds.

At the very least, Apple updates iOS devices in a timely manner and continues to support them for years. It's just only recently where Google is mandating through the enterprise program that vendors update the software for now 36 months (3 years) of launch. Whenever I would use my Priv, it was kind of annoying that it got stuck on Android 6.0.1 whereas the hardware could support the latest OS. I bought an Aurora to give to a friend and it was running Android 7 just fine.

I too, use Android/iOS hardware that gets more than single OS update. The history of BBAndroid has been single OS update in case of the PRIV and no update with DTEK as BB exited hardware. Since then, BB only does what it’s paid for. That’s just good business since it’s publicly traded and doesn’t have nonprofit status.

The Priv should have launched with Marshmallow from the get go. The issue is that while BlackBerry was still in the business of handsets, technically even after the TCL agreement they were still doing OS development, they had outdated android software. Now this is a problem with android in general but some OEMs are better than others and sadly BlackBerry was one of the ones that had a bad track record. However they were on point with the security patches. My Priv was updated with the security update without fail for the two years BlackBerry had supported that hardware.
