It has a memory leak that hasn't been patched and only Marshmallow fixes it. The lag appears after about 40 hours of "standby" time. The only way to fix it is to reboot the device. I noticed my Android has the same problem. There is noticeable lag and apps hang.

Eventually, after days of use without a reboot on 5.0 Lollipop, some apps have occupied so much RAM that other apps/parts of the system don't have enough of it themselves to function. The system keeps killing apps to make memory available, which forces it to recreate and restore the state of the apps it killed if you need them again. This continual killing and recreation of the apps is what makes the system laggy.

I hope the Priv is updated to 6.0 soon.

From what I've read, 5.1.1 fixes it.

That's good then! I'm on 5.0 and the lag is horrible on a quad core 3GB ram phone.

What are you using that hasn't been upgraded yet? Even Verizon pushed out 5.1.1, and we all know how they like to be the early birds with ze softwares.

Only lag is when I press buttons too fast or load too much crap at the same time. Oh and when mozilla eats all the ram and locks the phone up.

Who has 40 hours of standby time??? Is the phone laying on the desk not being touched the whole time? I have my phone set to reboot every night at 3am when its on the charger. Never had any issues with lag.

Standby time doesn't mean you haven't touched your device in 40 hours. It means collective standby time. If don't touch your device overnight for 8 hours then another night for 8 hours, it adds up eventually to 40 hours.

Anyway I just flashed 6.0 Marshmallow on my device.

No, I get it but Ive never had a phone last more than 24 hours before needing to charge it regardless of standby time. I couldnt imagine using it all through the day and letting it sit on my nightstand without charging it just to accumulate standby time.

The fact that it's quadcore doesn't mean it's powerfull. There are plenty of quad-cores and Octa-cores that are absolute turds

Plus one should remember Samsung's own TouchWiz isn't actually very friendly to available resources. My Galaxy Note Edge for example is *much* faster according to many people once you simply install a stock Android ROM instead of the bloated TouchWiz.

Lollipop was generally buggy when it first came out, even on the Nexus devices. And it took a lot of manufacturers months to get the updates released. (I think on my OnePlus One, Cyanogen didn't release it until March?... even 5.1 didn't get released until the summer time though Cyanogen was a lot slower than the other manfucturers). I remember going back to KitKat on the OPO after Lollipop got released as it just wasn't as good of an experience.

On a somewhat related note, this is why I laugh a bit reading the other thread saying the Priv should have launched with Marshmallow or needs a commitment from BB now as to when it will get M. It seems so far that M has less issues at launch than L but still, it is to BB's advantage to wait a good while to see what bugs pop up and for them to get taken care of by Google before giving a date to update the Priv to M.

Your Galaxy S lags because of Samsungs TouchWiz and not Android. Keep that in mind.

Try it one more time.... just because it is laggy for you does not mean it is for everyone... getting tired of this... wife has LG G 3 for the last 6 months ... no lag... no memory hole issue... nada.. nothing.. Have a Sammy tab 4.... same thing.. much of it depends on the vendor and how much bloatware is added... and what apps the user has installed... same on almost every smartphone I have had,, including my z30.... one of the OS updates caused a lag but fixed up after secure wipe.... so sorry to the OP... sorry this happens for you but it definately not everyone and does not make OS any more buggy than another....
