Well it finally arrived and what a phone, moving from a Z30 which I thought was the best out phone out there, we will see how the Priv compares.
Still working a few things out and setting it up but all good so far.

couple of questions:
how do I turn off predictive text? been looking cant find

I know it doesn't have a file manager? is there a good alternative?

You will not be disappointed with the BlackBerry Priv. I have been using it since November 2015 and in my opinion this smartphone is the best of BlackBerry hardware and Google Android. The only deficiency that I have found so far is the non-integration of the Contacts application with email accounts and telephone. Hopefully BlackBerry addresses this issue with BlackBerry Android (Marshmallow).

Predictive Text: Main Settings/Lang&Input/BB Keyboard Settings/Prediction&Correction/ a variety of options....

I use Astro file manager

You will love the Priv. I think of it as a Z30 on steroids with a sliding keyboard.
