The Priv is dropping with the Snapdragon 808 and three GB's of RAM at $750.
The Nexus6P is dropping with the Snapdragon 810 and three GB's of RAM at $500.

I do want that physical keyboard. But the extra $250 is going to be a stumbling block to a lot of people. Especially when the Priv is releasing with (more) dated hardware.

I do think it is an awesome phone though. I just think it needed to come in at ~$550 to be very successful.
The camera and screen will be better. As will the reception and battery life I'm sure. I think the extra value is there.

Didn't know the specs on that device tbh I don't care about android....but I guess I'm going to have to deal with it... beats IOS.

I can understand their position for the price.
    Wicked camera and lens
BlackBerry amazing keyboard with touch sensitive features. (only droid device with anything like it)....(I think?)
    VOLTE ready.
Suport for 2TB sd (oh yeah I forgot about that one)
    3410 mah battery
    ...and more.
I mean it's your privilege right... gotta pay for that privilege.

    Well here's the thing....

I wanted Blackberry to do well with this device.

When Google releases their flagship device that comes with the latest version (with App permissions) of Android (6.0 Marshmallow) versus 5.1.1 on the Priv....

    Same amount of storage (32GB)...

    Larger battery (barely)(3450mAh)....

    Gorilla Glass 4 (same)...

USB-C charger (plus or minus depending on your position)....

    All aluminum build...

Guaranteed OS updates (Priv - hopefully - but no guarantee)...

Larger screen (5.7" [personally I prefer the Priv 5.4" screen])...

    Latest CPU/GPU versus older hardware....

    Dual front facing speakers....

Fingerprint scanner (not a selling point for Blackberry fans - but they are trying to convert Android fans)...

8MP front facing camera versus 2MP front facing camera (again who cares [except people actually do care])....

    240FPS slow mo video...

And they do all that for $250 less than Blackberry....

Like I said, I wanted Blackberry to do well. But they need to convert Android users not just keep Blackberry users. And that is going to be difficult when you compare price points and hardware.

The 810 had some serious issues. Other manufacturers passed over it in favour of the 808 as well.

Best way to get OP's attention is to quote him

    1. We all saw in the add from BB site that there are 2 keys that don't really look good
I've got a date with the Priv [Updated]-keys.png

Was this the case with the 3 units you had?

    2. Am I to understand that the final released product will come with mm instead of lp?

Any info on these would be great:

    1. Does the Priv support type and go/ can you just start typing on the keyboard to enter Blackberry Search?
    2. Does Blackberry Search search through emails? (been on android for a while and miss this feature)
    3. Do instant actions work in Blackberry Search - type to write note/send email/etc? (i know you can do this in google now but it would be great to have everything in one place).
    4. Can the middle side button (between the volume keys) be mapped to a custom shortcut (e.g. the hub).

Cheers for feeding so much information.

In OP's edited post there is this info:

"Device was pre production. 5.1.1 was loaded... BlackBerry has marshmallow likely Priv to see it"

This means that a planned upgrade to 6.0 will follow? As it's written right now it's not very clear to me I'm referring to this part "BlackBerry has marshmallow likely Priv to see it"

Maybe it launches with 5.1 and gets MM in the new year when they planned all the other updates Chen spoke about.
If it comes out a week after that is pretty dumb, they should just wait a week and launch with MM
