I have an IR blasted on one of my other phones. Since this looks like it is the cousin of the SGS6 do you think it might have one? I find them pretty handy and they work with everything.
In the days of Smart TVs and bluetooth everywhere..... IR blaster? Nice toy but I doubt it...

Unfortunately, you're probably right. It is a neat feature, but honestly it's quickly come and gone as being a "gimmick feature."
While some of us could find everyday use for it (I know I could), I'm 99% sure the BlackBerry engineers would just see it as a nuisance to develop and integrate, as well as added cost...

It seems gimmicky, but the dang thing is super useful and I use it a lot. It's pretty cool. Works with bluray players, every tv in the house...really nifty.

I know what you mean. Not regarding the IR feature but having the ability to change channels on your digital box from your phone is really cool. In Canada, I'm on Bell FibeTV and I their remote app which is a TV Guide and network remote in one. I can control any FibeTV wireless or wired digital box from anywhere in my home as long as my phone is on my wifi network.
We realllly like the peel smart remote on my wife's galaxy s6. It's an upgrade over the similar "watchon" app that's on our galaxy tablets. And both are upgrades over the regular remote.
For context, we watch TV over the air with antenna, and also use the roku. The peel app can show which channels I want to show, and hide the rest. I can see what's on and tap it to change the channel. No need for scrolling. Change volume, power on, change source input. Everything. Super handy when the remote is missing (thanks toddler)
