The more I think about a Slider, the more I'm intrigued by the idea. What I can't decide is whether I like the renders I've seen thus far which seem mostly like Zed models with a thin slide out PKB. Or would I like more of a thicker rounded off model almost like the bigger Torch. Sort of the analogy of the Classic is to the Bold as the Slider is to the Torch. Of course we shouldn't be settling for mediocre specs. This new Slider should blow us away, it just needs to. I just think if it's just a Z30 like device with a slide out keyboard it might underwhelm the audience because of the hype behind it.

I want a passport with a virtual keyboard going horizontal. Would be like a mini tablet.

If the Slider looked like this, would you buy it?

Of course the specs would be the same as the rumored specs (5.1" SuperAmoled curved screen, 3gb ram, 13mp camera...etc)

Hell yes. Irresistible. But devices never look as good as their concepts do. I really like the idea of the slider though, and might fall for it if it has a toolbelt.
Totally unrelated, but is anyone else eagerly hoping that BlackBerry will bring out that giant passport tablet concept that showed up on the interwebs a few months ago?

It's vkb, which stands for "virtual keyboard" (the touch screen keyboard on the z10 and z30)

Pkb stands for "physical keyboard" (the keyboard on the passport and q10

Depends, I thought they were bumping it to 64-bit architecture, meaning they should at least be trying to squeeze 4GB+ RAM into it :/

However not gonna lie, I like the look of that fine thing

We should sign a petition to release Slider early. It'd be cool 'marketing' for BlackBerry!

I remember when I had the Torch and had an Otterbox case they had designed it in a two part case with the slider/screen having one half and the bottom/keyboard another. Maybe something like that would be easier for manufacturers to make

    Posted via CB10
Yeah, I had the Otterbox case for my Torch 2 ( 9810)... the top beetle kept cracking. Hard to design a case for a two part slider!

I will buy the slider in a heartbeat if it's anything close to those pictures and high end. Love my Z30 but looking to upgrade in the next year.

Def will be fragile! Only reason I never got the old slider..i just knew it was a matter of time till that "sliding motion" would break. Or if dropped, your done! Especially since you probably won't be able to put a case on it!

2 main disadvantages of the slider:
    #1 Fragile
    #2 No case

I still can't wait to see the finished product! I hope we're not all "jinxing" it by talking about it so much!

The higher end sliders I've had have been pretty solid, though if they go all thin obsessed with this one I'll worry.

One thing I don't like is when you get some grit in the slide, they still work but it doesn't feel nice sliding it open/closed if there's grit in there. I usually shake it and blow in it til it's out.

I had the 9800. It's taken a number of drops and the sliding still works just fine. It's not all that fragile really. As for cases, I used it in a holster so not really necessary.

Sorry, I'd like to typo but my Q10 just can't handle it.

I hope Blackberry is smart enough to kill two birds with one stone.
For pkb fans let them use the pkb.
For touchscreen fans allow us to lock the keyboard and use vkb.
    It would be glorious.

Hilarious. Yea, I know how to take the long way (as you can see from my description of it) but I prefer the short way.
The long way? We're counting milliseconds now? It's one swipe, start from the bottom and curve right as you move up.
