If, according to this article, Priv target buyers who are enterprise users wanting security and android, a half business - half personal system, what is BB's expectations from their research, how many of these folks are projected to obtain the Priv?? I would assume market research was done? Anyone in the know on this, I would assume they feel that it's do-able. I would also assume they have a maximum time established where they will only allow so much time to go by to allow the Priv to become established or if not, kill it.

In his recent Code/Mobile interview John Chen said it will probably take one to two years to transition BlackBerry's enterprise customers from BB10 to Android, and that he has a time frame in mind at which he will make a decision about the future of the hardware side of the business.

That is the primary consideration for me as well.

A secondary consideration are the BB tools (not security) that "get" enterprise needs. The consumer platform that is Android needs such a toolset.

I mean, simple conference call dialing is beyond the consumer platforms--whereas BB always knew exactly what to do. I'm hoping this continues to be the case.

And not just conference call dialing; simply identifying a phone number wherever it is and being able to dial it is something from legacy BB that I also miss.

If initial unit sells are high enough perhaps, I think this may take two years to gain momentum. Once the early corporate adopters show up with them at work and their friends get their hands on them, then it will move.. I assume BB is targeting all those who were forced off corporate BB's by IT and miss having a good BB phone with physical keyboard in their hands. So many variables, people waiting for their end of contracts, just bought another brand but will follow through with a purchase the following year, etc. This Priv is the only option remaining for BB to deal with bring your own device but IT says it has to be an iPhone or Android. I think many an IT jock will promote the Priv to their bosses as they have the memory of BB and security.
