I find that some of the user reviews are unnecessarily harsh and too definitive, despite some of the users only having their Privs for a matter of hours. Don't get me wrong, people are entitled to their opinion but I am sure there are trolls on this forum who are out to spoil the launch. Keep an open mind!

    Understandable.

On the other hand, there's only one first impression, so BlackBerry can't lose the consumer that quickly.

No offense but $700 isn't a lot of money to begin with when it comes to smartphones. I have personally seen smartphones that cost well over $5000 and they don't even remotely compare when it comes to specs. So stop this entitled crap with price already.

All I can say as a long-time BlackBerry user is the BlackBerry Priv is definitely a good smartphone. I was sceptical to before getting it in my hands.

This really doesn't prove anything, you could have easily photoshopped this. The only way to proof it is to scratch you name on the glass screen.
    ;-)

No joking, just jealous you already have yours. :-)

I feel you OP, new phone, new OS for many people. There's bound to be some growing pains for most users going to the Priv from BB10.

I've had the phone for less than 12 hours, but I haven't had the new phone whine hit me yet.

Yeah, but unlike the Priv, the sole act of flipping out a Vertu phone from your pocket will get you laid with South Beach Bimbos. I don't see this happening with the Priv, so 5K well spend.

It can be argued that people pay in excess of $700 for an iPhone and it isn't perfect. Albeit they buy it anyway. Just saying...

Agreed. The PRIV is a good device but not worth giving the Passport up for.

Vertu Signature has a starting MSRP of $13,300.00USD.

Vertu Signature Touch has a starting MSRP of $9,000.00USD.

Vertu Aster has a starting MSRP of $5,000.00USD.

I have personally seen a gold plated Vertu Signature Touch [excess of $30,000 if custom made with higher karat gold plats] before. Owned by my former boss when I worked at Chase Bank back in 2014.

When people complain about $700 for the Priv... I simply laugh. Some of these people have no business buying a phone to begin with if you are going to complain about $700 which is pretty standard for premium entry smartphones.

The difference is those are not your base consumer smartphones. So if you want to laugh at people becuase their hard earned money seems frivolous to you, then you need to remeind yourself that we all can't be as fortunate as you.

    You're right, I shouldn't complain about a phone with a display like this because it's only $700.

I suspect there are a lot of trolls giving their 'first hand view' on the priv-image.jpgClick image for larger version.
