So Chen says that if the Priv doesnt sell the phone division will be bust and many people are worried about this because this means the physical keyboard will fade into history.

    Well, maybe not.

Chen is driving blackberry to the software business. He has already created the blackberry experience on android wich is a somenthing he could sell in the future but its doesnt end here.

    My timeline is like this:

The talks with samsung to sell blackberry to them. The creation of blackberry suite for android. The Priv design is almost the same as the s6 edge. The Priv will not sell and the phone division will bust. Chen will sell the blackberry android experience to other brands or only to samsung. Sell the keyboard patents to samsung and in the future we will still have the Priv form factor made by samsung. Blackberry becomes a software and security company only selling its platforms to other brands.

Só i think that by the launch of the galaxy s10 we will have the physical keyboard again but made by samsung. Imagine the samsung galaxy passport!

    Oh no!

I'd rather they sell it to Motorola or something, I want my MicroSD support.

Besides, Motorola has keyboard making experience (Droid) and their 2015 phones are getting pretty awesome, imagine they include a KEYBOARD on top of that!

Smells to me, like you are a Samsung fan and you concocted this theory just as a way to dream the bb keyboard on samsung.

I don't think the government would approve the sale to a Chinese company

No OEM is going to buy BlackBerry for their handful of patents etc.

Chen is setting up to have a large software portfolio to sell, my guess is to SAP.

The priv is, sort of a bonus- but again it's just for future licensing of the android secure stuff and the keyboard- not many will want to make a keyboard phone...but if the priv shows there is market for it, OEMS would be willing to pay to use it- but nowhere near the cost of buying BlackBerry for it.

Samsung fan? What does samsung offer to be a fan? Nothing! They are like the automotive chinese imdustry. Just crappy copies of european cars that dont have substance.

Its the same with the phone business.

One of the issues is that we know that various organisations kicked the tyres and then passed - they would have had a good look at the patents as part of that process.

The only one to speak publicly about it is Mike Scully:

The Canadian government had asked us if we could consider making a bid for BlackBerry.

So, when we were seriously studying it, we saw it had 7,000 employees in its handset division. We could do it with a few hundred because we work through distributors, because we know where to spend the money and where to be nimble.
