Am I reading this correct? It doesn't actually protect the device like it says? If they can get past your lock screen, they can reset the device and add their account. Right?

They would probably need to be able to log into your Google account to reset the device. It's the same way that you can use an unlocked iPhone but certain tasks such as a factory reset require you to log into your Apple ID which is your ultimate security barrier and can be protected with two factor authentication, etc.

Add Google Account = like new BBID protect on BlackBerry: asks for your login details even if they manage to reset the device. Cannot be removed or replaced without knowing the login details.

Add lock screen = prevent them from accessing device settings in the first place, so they cannot even try to reset your device or even delete stuff from storage.

It has the highest score for HTML5 compliance. Hands-down beats Chrome in score.

So it seems like the bb10 browser strives in one category, but no so much in others. Is that enough to justify it and say it's the best? Just wondering..

Android has come along way since my first device back in 2009 so I haven't had to reset any quality devices in years but...

Last New Year's Eve I reset my nephews tablet by simply holding down the buttons (honestly, I don't remember the key combination) and that took me to a screen that allowed me to select which version of a reset I wanted to perform. I did a Factory Reset and wiped his data from a semi-bricked state.

I suppose this was possible because he didn't have all the correct setting turned on...

BB10s browser is impressive on the Classic given the fact that it sports a dual core CPU only. But comparing it side by side with other mid range Android devices it's just slow. Especially JavaScript heavy websites really lag.

I imagine the most common negative comment in the reviews would be that the Hub is redundant (android already has notifications anyway and opens the app when you click on each).

I guess so, but for me the Hub has always been primarily an email client. The best I've ever used. So I'm glad it's there on the Priv.

BB10 is well behind Chrome, Firefox, and Opera on html5 test.

    Latest BB10 score is 466.

people can say what they want. But there's alot of BB10 users who didnt update phones from z10 like myself. The one device thats got the size, specs and extra keyboard we wanted we cant bye.

Your gonna sell a device at least get the loyal fans sold on the device. Not alienate them and leaving it to unknown group. This device had all the parts this would of done a cool mill+ on bb10 users alone. Then you release this droid trash or you just do both and do stock droid bull**** with the productive suite & slide keybaord. The suite was annouced long time ago and still not ready why??. I think chenny boy got **** wrong way round.

Its android that needs the stock release and little tampering with keybaord and security patches thast enough work really.BB10 should just continued its development. On secure front it would need so little updates not as much as droid will need.

Didnt see apple bottle it & toss Mac OS X away. They kept working on it bit by bit.Did dual boot and kept it moving. Man we'll see but man. Easily lost a a million + purchasers. Call me a fool but I rather have bankable cash then hope and pray bull**** going on at bb.
LOL a bit Salty are we not ?
Look , they need to go where the MONEY is. BB10 was and is going no where. You need to come to terms with it.

I'm happy to answer some questions this morning
Privberry, thanks for this! I'm getting in late, hopefully you are still answering questions.

Is a google account required to activate or otherwise use the device (not including things like using Google Play)?

If a google account is used to get apps from Google Play, is it possible to control the upload and synchronizing of contacts and phone data to Google's servers? Ie, can you use google solely for app downloads but not for email and ensure privacy of all contact information by denying sync with the cloud?

Can you use voice recognition completely on-device like how BB10 works? In other words have the phone do local voice recognition and searching without sending any data to google's cloud servers?

Is the email client built into HUB or is it using a stock google app for this? Does the email client (whichever it uses) support exchange activesync out of the box?

When you first set it up, the hub asks if you want to delete from device only or both device and server. I don't recall how it worked before, I may have chosen a different option also, but now it deletes from both my phone and the server.

    Posted via CB10
Yeah, they changed it in one of the more recent versions of BB10. It used to work that way (e.g. archive is just delete), always worked that way on 10.1, 10.2, early versions of 10.3. But more recent versions they swapped it so now "delete" deletes it against HUB and server. AKA going against gmail's standards. They say to either have an archive option, or make delete "archive". BlackBerry went rogue and just did their own thing lol

Have you activated the device on a BES 12 server? If so, have you done a secure work space activation? Does this require the BES12 client or is it integrated into Android OS?
