I have different experience. My Gmail push is not instant. I have at least 5 to 10 second delay. Granted, it was right after I setup the hub, but getting email faster on my passport than on my outlook on my computer.

I have it sync every 15 minutes but I turned off all unnecessary app notifications. I think that helped a lot.

That's what push is, your device is notified by the server when new mail arrives.

I have set mine to never sync and haven't any issues. Since I almost always check my email on my phone, it doesn't bother me that the server doesn't sync. My gmail is pushed just fine.

Can you give a list of unneccassry app notifications?
    For example,

do you need a notification that let you know that there is a wifi network?

Do you need every score updates from your sports app?

Do you need all the Google play store notifications from when an app is downloaded, updated or installed?

These are a few of some of the notifications I disabled during my initial set up.

But what I feel unnecessary, doesn't mean the same for others.
