Turn on dev mode, disable animations, set baclground apps to 2, then force GPU rendering.

Disable all google related apps, including play services. Battery life on my Priv increased significantly. (for the security update I just switch the latter on to get the update)

This is counterintuitive as the Priv is an android device.

    Correct. Still it improves performance.

The first step is to identify the problem. Fund out what apps are running, front and back end, at what times, and power/memory allocated per. A system checker/ task manager app can do this.

The next step is to go down the list of active apps and disable noncritical/nonessential functions, to you. Anything you don't need will help by saving resources.

As mentioned, the main thing is to limit any active or power consuming apps, especially those pesky hidden ones secretly injected by unscrupulous players.

It's may take some time to go through the system but it's worth it in the long run.

Difference between Keyone Alternative and an almost there. Definitely, holds up IMO.
