I'm still deciding whether to wait to be in Hong Kong to get the -3 version, or just get the -1 version next week in Canada. China Mobile TD-LTE and wireless charging is nice to have, but after exchange rates I might be paying a premium.

Fortuitously enough, I know someone who will be in HK in December.

Is there any particular place any of you HK residents would recommend to pick up the Priv at?

Adopted hongkonger here. You can check price.com.hk to see when it's available. Individual vendors advertise there and the best price usually moves around. I always end up buying my phones on different places.

The site is all in Chinese but not too hard to figure out. Two prices are usually published: official one and grey market. I always buy grey market.

There are big chain stores like Fortress and Broadway Photo, and independent "dealers" at Sincere (Sin Tat) in Mongkok and Apliu St in Shamshuipo, but I don't recommend the last two unless you're local and know your phones, especially Sincere.

Carrier stores include 3, Smartone and CSL. I think CSL is usually their launch partner.

Thanks. Usually how far apart are the prices in HK from the US prices? I'm purchasing the phone, but I just want to be prepared.

As of today the Passport SE is listed HKD 3,630 without warranty and just over 4K with warranty.

Completely random guess, I think it will launch at around HK$5300, that's what I'm budgeting around if I don't get the Canadian model next week.

Anyone in HK want to give these guys a call?

    Brightstar Corp

They are the main distributor I believe.

    Hong Kong version official specs:

    It appears this is STV100-3.

And I think this is the real deal, from a Chinese seller on Taobao:

Yes they are. All the units I bought from different places have their sticker. They're probably sole agent. The 100-3 version is the one that has wireless charging right?

I can't tell for sure at this point. I sent the Chinese seller a Weibo comment to ask. Hopefully they get back.

Always a balance of weakness in the cdn dollar and the cost of additional taxes...

Given JCHEN grew up in HK, wonder whether he would come back and do a launch

Still struggling whether to get a Priv or a PP SE but currently inclined to get Priv. Fear the software is not well polished. BlackBerry has poor record of nailing things right on V.1.

As I mentioned in another thread, as long as it's not hardware bugs which cannot be fixed unless devices gets recalled, there's not much to worry about, nor can you. Software development is just like this everywhere these days. Deliver now with no showstoppers, fix it in the next release next week. Small releases, frequent delivery.

Recently let 100 people to try out the Priv (presumably in China). The collective conclusion is that Priv is THE Android flagship phone to date!
