I have about 20 SIM card contacts that I absolutely cannot delete. I tried a variety of apps but none of them allow me to remove these 20 contacts. I have no idea how they go there in the first place, since I use Google Contacts for everything.

    Any ideas?

Same issue here. Except I know how they got there. In my case, they are all from the Service Provider.
Can't seem to get rid of them, though

You'll never believe how I managed to delete the SIM contacts. I put the SIM back in my Passport and deleted them with no trouble. It seems that Android and its apps can't access the SIM card properly to delete the contacts. I tried half-a-dozen apps on Android and no luck.

    Just FYI.

    Gotta discover the phone

    1. Go to Phone app
    2. Click Contacts tab
    3. Hit the 3 little dots icon next to Microphone icon above it
    4. Click "Import/Export"
    5. Click "Import from Sim Card
    6. Click either "Phone" or "Google"
    7. You will now be in the Sim card contacts management portion
    8. Click the little 3 dots at the top right hand corner and either choose "Delete Sim contacts or "Add SIM contacts" or even "Import All"

    Cheers guys

Tried That. I still have 9 contacts left which won't go away (There were 23 before).
They don't even show in the Import From Sim Card dialogue even. Screenshots:

Are those 9 contacts that won't delete joined with your Google Account?

When it said copy contacts to "Device" or "Google Account" which option did you pick?

I picked - Device (Local Contacts).

Nope. Not linked to Google Account.

Try using the Google Account option

Secondly before doing this I would reboot your phone

I only had 1 stuck contact and that was AT&T Customer Service (My PRIV is unlocked and on TMO) and when I switched over and was cleaning out the SIM contacts it deleted it.

Tried Reboot. Tried Local Device. Tried Google Account.
    No joy.

But no big deal. THIS 'issue' is the least of my worries with the Priv. Thanks though. At least got rid of the 14.

Now deleting these 9 (by selecting them). Will reboot after that and see if they come back.

You sir have a weird SIM card

Glad to have at least gotten rid of some of them

These 9 contacts are all of them or any of them carrier related? o.O?

I don't think it's the SIM. I believe it's the phone (I may be wrong. Will know for sure once I am home. Will switch this SIM into the Classic and delete from there. Then switch it back to the Priv).
Yes, they are ALL from the carrier / service provider.

    Try Matt J's solution.

Switch the SIM to another handset. Delete sim contacts, and then ram it back in to the Priv. Don't see why it shouldn't work (I am still stuck in the office and can't try it).

Will try this but I don't have Passport. Never saw these contacts on my previous device (Lumia 1520).
I will report the result when done, I'm at office too, so I can't try for the moment.

    Thx .

No passport, no problem. There is no reason why it shouldn't work with any other handset.
For some odd reason though it doesn't seem to be working with the Priv.

Unless the carrier(s) have found a way of pushing Contact data to the SIM when it's activated (which is a bit of a stretch, in my view).

    Settings > Accounts > Sim > 3 dots > Remove Account.

    I just did that.

    Update:
Nah... damn thing returns on restart anyway. FOOK it
