Here's a whole lot of left field for your Tuesday -- read in 24 Hours this morning about Google acquiring office space in Waterloo, which makes me wonder...

Do you think this might be a sign of an intimate partnership? Or maybe even an acquisition? :P

It's possible, but unlikely. More likely they want to pick up some former BlackBerry employees and hire more UWaterloo co-op students.

This. Google frequently builds campuses where tech talent lies, academic institutions and tech hubs. They also have a campus in Montreal.

I believe they have been in the area for more than a year. My understanding was that they have been primarily working on Gmail.

Lots of good people out of work. Great place to set up a satellite office to take advantage of a large pool of qualified candidates

Google has been in the area (Kitchener) for many years, a lot of talent in the area, University of Waterloo grads mostly, they have a great Computer Science program. Google is growing well too, they move into a new larger building soon in downtown Kitchener, just a couple of blocks from their current location.

Google has been in Kitchener for years now. They outgrew their already large space at the Tannery building and are nearly finished the construction of their new space just 2 blocks away.
