Yes the comments seem "real" and not the usual hissy fits from "unsated fanboys" (as my new bestie Evan would say).

FTA: "These types of devices are becoming less and less common – if you want a device with a Snapdragon 808 processor, QHD display, 3 GB of RAM, a good battery and a strong camera, other than the LG G4, your options are quite limited – so the BlackBerry Priv fills something of a gap in the market."

This pretty much sums up one of the main reasons I'm looking forward to the PRIV.

Now, bring on the in-depth hands-on reviews. Let's do this.

The HUB is the main reason I love BB10. When I watch people on their iPhone stumble around apps to see messages I laugh.

HUB and Google play are a killer combo. Need to see the function of it all though.

Nice article! Thanks for sharing! Some of the comments lacked knowledge of the device but that's expected as it's new but I'm glad it's getting recognition.

This and sending free Privs to select people is far more effective then spending millions on ads that people dont watch.

How many average consumers read tech sites on a regular basis - or ever?

Marketing and advertising are difficult to do, and it's hard to know if you are just wasting money or if you are getting any kinda return. But I think if you expect to sell a High End device, you had better be able to back it up with what all the other High End (or at least High Priced) manufactures are doing. Television, in store Displays, targeted online adds (not just with the keyword of BlackBerry), Celebrities (award season coming up)....

But I agree about giving away some of these phones.... heck they ought to send out every pre-ordered phone with a full value credit card/gift card. These are your fans and the once that will really work for you to sell these phones to others. Every major BES customer should get a number of free units for "testing" (and to build demand).

You can give away 1k phone with a $400k budget. (assuming it cost $300-400 or less)

What does $400k get you in ads? 1 or 2 ads? IDK

    Yes on the BES customers.

I hoped that they would break into the vault and spend at least $100 Million on marketing for the PRIV. Somewhere along the lines of HTC.... I know they aren't going to match Samsung or Apple.

Truer words have never been spoken. I sell certain items on Etsy. Spent $100 on Facebook advertising with not 1 sale coming from them. Did a Facebook giveaway, giving away $100 of my items for free. Next thing you know after a couple weeks, i'm getting orders like crazy. Not exactly the same thing as far as the Priv, but the concept is the same.

Once the Priv can allow communications to flow as well on android as they do on blackberry, that is reason enough for anyone to get it. Plus, the availability of the apps from Google app world and the ability to expand storage with SD card. I can't wait to get it.

I love that they managed to keep the hub swipe gesture in Android. Eases the transition.
