It's a bit early to speculate on this bit I think.

BlackBerry made it clear that some kind of partnership with Google is in play. I don't know what that means.

Grsecurity is handling the kernel hardening. I don't know what that entails from a OS update point of view either.

The BlackBerry Safeguard component of the BlackBerry Experience Suite is, I assume, a collection of apps (or maybe not). This part should be done before the OS update even becomes publicly available like most other app development.

Correct, but I am sure your dollar would be more easily gambled on the chances that updates are delayed longer than the top 4 manufacturers because they have so much customization and that they are still new at this.
