Curiously, what happens if you remove your sim and try to do an update over wifi?
Probably nothing will happen since they identify by IMEI

You'd still be able to connect to a foreign cell carrier with a proper sim card. IE taking your VZW Priv to Europe and connecting to Vodafone or the like.

I'm curious if one were to stick in a non VZW sim from say Vodafone into a Verizon Sim would the phone look to BB for the update?

I agree, probably nothing will happen but it's worth a shot.

I think Verizon is a CDMA phone, not GSM

nougat it's already out and vzw priv it's still running lollipop but the price was the same for all privs ,that is just unfair

I am sure NOTHING. BB has to intervene since here's the latest BS from Verizon to the FCC

"The security updates that F2 is referencing are released in the same manner that the software updates are
released. Upon review of our Technical Advisory Group, it has been determined that the most current version
available was released strictly for Google security patches. This version (AAF055) was released in June 2016 and is
the most up to date version that is approved by Verizon Wireless."

    :O

I have 2 questions, is there an auto loader for this? i didn't see a 853 specifically for unlocked ATTs.

Will i see this update OTA if i had a franken-build? (aka oem folder swapped from rest-of-the-world builds)

I mean if this is not possible, i can always switch back to a "real" ATT build then OTA it to the latest one.

    thanks!

I had used flash.bat with oem.img replacement method to upgrade so I suppose wouldn't be getting updates OTA since manual update option is disabled with this method.

Has anyone received BlackBerry OTA even after using above-mentioned method in the past?

Nope. I never received any OTA for Frankenstein OEM.IMG (AAG202 and AAG873)
What I did then is to flash back to vanilla AAG202 (AAF035 for some reason won't boot on my PRIV, prossibly downgrade/ bootloader protection?), put Vodafone SIM in, and check for update.
It said no update, but after restarting my phone, it says update is available. I can confirm now im running AAG853 on my AT&T Priv.

    What I see so far:
    -AAG853 on about screen
    -Bootloader still says : "veniceatt"
-oem folder shows "at&t" variant mentioned instead of "common"

I'm running a an unlocked AT&T PRIV with a TMO SIM card, and checked last night for this update. This afternoon, I get a push notice from BB that an update was available, and I'm downloading it now.

So, if I get it correctly, if you already have AAG873 installed, you won't get AAG853 update notification. Does anybody know if it can be forced somehow?

I flashed back to AAG202 to get AAG853.

    AAG873 essentially is AAG853 + AT&T Signature + Bloatware(in oem.img). Maybe wait for next month's security patch?

What I have done to get notification is to check for an update on sock flash AAG202, it will show no update but i understand there is abit of data traffic. I left it for like a minute and then did restart. Boom, notification came right after restart
