As noted, some File Managers might not see the OTG - Solid does or it does with an add-on.

    edited to add:

There might have been a change in Marshmallow. When I plugged in my thumb drive using OTG, there was a Notification about the drive. When I tapped the notice, the drive was opened. I'm not sure if this was from the native file manager (Main Settings, usb-storage) or some other method.

I could also find it in the Asus file manager, although I'm not sure all files and/or folders were visible in my brief test.

If your phone recognized the USB drive, Asus File Manager would see it. Check under Settings > Storage & USB to see if the USB drive is listed. If it is, check if it is mounted. If it is not listed, try a different OTG cable.

If you mean make or brand one, I don't think so. I picked up one for about $5.00. But I recently got a tiny OTG adapter that is not much larger than the standard usb plug which comes with a tiny micro-usb (plugs into Priv usb) adapter tha slides into a female standard usb that accommodates a micro sd card.

I don't recall where I ordered it from but here's more or less what it is:

    https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Micro-A...UvbUpU12746469

Tiny Micro USB OTG Adapter Converter Plug-in For Raspberry Pi Zero or Android | eBay

Hmm, maybe mine did not come with the other part that hold a micro sdcard!!!!

If you look further down that Amazon page you can see the standard short cable that is a more normal OTG adapter cable. Micro on one end and stand usb on the other with some electronics in there somewhere.

    Thanks f2

Our (Aus) Amazon store is only for books and apps, no other stuff yet, although apparently full amazon store is planned for maybe soonish ...

Here's an example of what I thought I would buy, from a main retailer here, single cord $13.98 (!)

I've also found some usb hub style types, again expensive.

Yup, that's the type of cable I originally purchased. I used it on the last three European vacations to connect my Priv and camera/card to my laptop/tablet to backup pictures from the trip daily.

It supports OTG like any other Android phone. I use this cute Android-shaped adapter which I got bundled with my old THL phone and it works without issues with FX file manager. Most managers I tried work with drives connected to OTG.

Which file system is your drive formatted to? I think NTFS isn't supported on Android (and I'm not sure if there are any drivers available), so that may be your problem.

I use the Samsung OTG adapters that come with the S6 and S7 's. Worked great with Solid OTG plug-in in Lollipop and as is in Marshmallow.

I've tried 3 different OTG cables/connectors (different brands) and none are recognized by my PRIV. I've tried a flash drive, SD card, and micro SD card. Nothing. Is there a setting that I need to change or is this a hardware issue? Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

Just pulled out my OTG adapter and plugged in an older thumbdrive. Asus File Manager showed its contents and I opened a jpg and text file.

When I plug one of my OTG adapters with a thumbdrive in to my Samsung tablet, ES File Explorer opens automatically and reads it no problem. When I plug the same adapter in to my Priv, it doesn't react at all. When I check Storage and USB, all that I see are internal storage and my micro SD card.

Ok, thanks. I don't know enough to know why different OTG devices would act or be recognized differently, but I'll have to see if I can track down one of those SanDisk units specifically. If 3 are no good, then 4 should be better?

I have that same flash drive. I don't plug it into my Priv often but it certainly works here too.
