I did a search for this on the Forum, could not find anything. When I use various screen dimmers to read browsers/RSS feeds at night, I'd like to dim the 3 buttons (menu, home, back) as well. Any way to do that? Thanks.

I wonder if there's a 3rd party app that can handle that.
I've tried several 3rd party apps - none of them worked.
A couple thoughts:
You could try some of the apps that enable immersive mode.
Firefox reader mode blacks out the buttons.
I tried Firefox Reader mode after reading your note above and many webpages don't display the little book icon so I installed "automatic reader view." The reader mode doesn't seem to do anything at all - doesn't invert colors, doesn't hide the soft keys?
You could enable immersive mode system-wide to hide the navigation bar.

I know on my nexus 5 running nougat has that option, set the appearance height width transparency.. Too bad BlackBerry android os don't have that option
use BlackBerry privacy shade app (recently launched) on google play

Electrical tape:devil:
I have covered some incredibly intrusive led pilot lights with electrical or duct tape. You have to wonder when you can do the NY Time crossword in a darkened room with an led charger!!!
You are a god. It took a long time to figure out (have a Mac so ended up having to download and install Android Studio a la How to install ADB and Fastboot on Mac OS X or Windows which took forever and a huge amount of space on my hard drive (not to mention, at least on my Mac I had to do "cd /Users/<user>/Library/Android/sdk/platform-tools")) but it WORKED!!!!!!!! So happy and relieved that I, as a clueless newbie, did not brick my phone. Thank you thank you thank you!
Haha, glad I helped and that you made it... But you should really thank the guy who posted that topic, I was just the messenger here. :D
