    If I start with a fresh device search after closing app 'device search' before and type like "test" ON THE LAUNCHER, it often either doesn't display the first letter so it searches for "est" or only displays the first letter "t" in the search and gulps the rest.

    On longer words I even get mixed results like "testrun" ending in a search for "trun".

    It all works when i'm in the device search app

    Tried all this after app force closed - cache clear - data clear - device restart. I have "long press shortcuts" activated.

    Anyone with same results?

    i have the same problem when i initiate a search by just beginning to type using the physical keyboard of course

    hopefully BlackBerry can discover this to fix it because i would really like to be able to just start typing and have that feature work like it did on BlackBerry 10

    first world annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless

    And I really do think it worked better before, cause I now was instantly reminded of webOS JustType which also gulped some letters.

    I've had this issue since early days of having the PRIV. It kept changing between updates but never really worked. At one point search would just crash / disappear, then it wouldn't register letters unless I pressed the first one then waited 5 seconds. I gave up on device search.

    Sad report, device search is an underrated function in Androidland as the pkb was not used anymore until the Priv. In Windows there is quite a good device search since several versions but the key is not to gulp chars http://www.itworld.com/article/29819...tart-menu.html

    seems to be fixed in sept app update no it's not only the first few tries were OK.

    Anyone at BlackBerry can comment on this, is this only a rare issue and we users can perhaps fix it by change of preferences?

    Many updates in February '17 but none for device search, which is in hibernation since August '16. Sad to see such a great opportunity to be productive with BlackBerry devices is missed.
