It would be nice to be able to set a default for one of the three tab choices under the text box when you open the phone app. My defaults to the star, as I'm sure everyone else's does. I'd rather have the clock tab (recents list) as my default when I open.

    Any other opinions?

Yes, I'd like to be able to set a defualt as well. Recents, for me.

Would installing another dialer be an acceptable solution to you? I'm sure there are many that do offer that option.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

The Simpler Dialer looks a lot like BB10. Anyone tried that phone app?

Will installing a new phone app automatically remove the stock phone app, or do I just move the stock app out of the way somewhere (in case I want to go back to it later)?

You can DISABLE apps. Main Settings, Apps and find yours.

You're welcome. Feel free to try and report if it's any good
It won't be removed automatically, you can use both or you can disable the default one, but I'm not positive if that's a good idea. Specifically, I'm not sure if e.g. the in-call screen is part of the Phone app or something else and what would happen if you disabled it. Try and see

True, but... What I wrote above. Have you maybe tried disabling Phone?
