Marshmallow (Developer version ) is already available and being tested on Nexus 6 & 9. As it is not being tested on the Venice, I imagine that device is not being treated similarly to Nexus devices and must wait to get M with other Android manufacturers. Marshmallow is expected to release before end of October. Even with a close alliance between Google and Blackberry, I am hard pressed to believe that Venice will release with Marshmallow before Christmas.

I agree with you though I'm hoping it does ship with 6.0 as dc2000 said according to his carrier records. Maybe we'll know on the 29th and see if Google is really pushing the Venice themselves as rumoured.

It can't be an eval unit, there's s picture bla1ze posted in one of the forums, and you can see the slight and subtle but still there, silver bezel. Have to assume that would make it a final model, and if your info leads up to an announcement on the 23/29 it would have to already be the final product.

Doesn't BlackBerry typically announce launch events well in advance? The September 24th Passport "Save the Date" came out on September 2nd. And the December 17th Classic launch was announced on November 13th.

Maybe they're going to let Google do the majority of their talking for them? Bigger audience that way, I suppose. And, people wouldn't be so quick to dismiss yet another BlackBerry "doomed device" announcement. Not to say BlackBerry themselves won't officially reveal it first, but likely they'd pair it with another event like the earnings call or the Germany store opening. That way they don't spend so much money on pomp and circumstance.
