In the past when a carrier provisions service they ask if the device is Android/iPhone/WindowsPhone or BlackBerry. I believe they do this because the BB plans are BIS enabled. Do we know if the Priv will require a BB specific plan?

    Thanks!

Speaking for Canadian carriers, BB10 devices do not use BIS services and don't need to be provisioned differently. Bell was/is the only carrier that I know of who still makes a distinction and charges a bit more for service compared to other devices. The Priv is an Android phone so it won't as it doesn't use BIS. Only old BBOS devices use BIS anymore.

I'm with Bell and I just assumed all providers did this. Good to know that isn't the case with others. Thanks for the clarification!

So then the Priv is an Android phone made by BlackBerry.
