The maximum I'm whiling to pay for the priv is at Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, so far rumours seem to be that it will be over that wich is seriously disapointing.
Ditto, I'm not buying in at the rumoured price. On the upside, the BB specific 'specs' like the touch capacitive pkb won't obsolete quickly so it's easier to wait for the price to drop later this year. IF it's mostly stock Android, performance shouldn't take a big hit either longer term. AND, by then they'll have had some time with the device in the wild to further fine tune it. Win, win, win, imho.

I'm sympathetic to BlackBerry that it costs more to add things like a touch capacitive PKB but very disappointed that they're not pricing more competitively (again, if the price is so high). They should take the hit on the margins for the potential goodwill a competitively priced device would generate. That's a backdoor to good marketing, imo.

    Oh well.

Was your friend able to confirm the $950 price tag? Most carriers will only offer $500 off with a subsidy so that's $450 ON a term. *mind blown*

If this is really the price then I'm skipping the Priv. As others are saying, that kind of price = dead on arrival.

I'm not sure what other confirmation are you looking for when the Canadian distributor said it's $949.

So I guess this settles the debate. I'm 100% that is the MSRP, at least for unlocked.

Black Friday coupon is the last hope.

now that's a potential deal breaker, unless the carriers will have a really good deal on it and a good plan. If it's still around $300 up front with a 2 year contract, it is really a hard sell considering other flagship phones will be around $ 100 or $50.
don't ruin it for me now
I'm with you! All these people setting aside $1000 for a phone. You guys made of money in here!

Max I'll pay on a resign of a 2 year contract is $200. Anything over that is pushing it. I'll wait till the phone is out for a few months and wait for my carrier to have a sale.

This is a disaster. Thing shouldn't be more than 550USD. It would fly off the shelves at that price.

I can easly afford a 1000 or even 2000$ phone. But to be honest, I feel like cheating myself paying this amount of money for a phone that isn't that much superior to phones costing way less. The price will come down after the first month.

I'm not worried. I'm getting it eventually, my Classic's running fine so I'm in no rush. And hell no I'm not buying it at launch price. Even better if ShopBB makes a pricing error again.

Although if I can make a compelling case for a birthday gift...

Never say never, they certainly could try. The iPhone 6S Plus 16 gb is $528 + tax on a 2 year contract at Bell ($1055+tax off contract)... the 128 gb version is $788.99+tax on a 2 year contract. The Galaxy s6 edge+ is $949+ tax and the 2 year contract price is $350+tax. $460+ tax on contract for the 64gb version...

But those are Samsungs and Iphones, they have much stronger brand equity. and if anything, they have quite superior processors.

$949 + tax in my province is $1072.37. The LG G4 is $599 CAD + tax and AT LEAST I'LL HAVE A PROPER SELFIE CAM AND AN EXTRA TV REMOTE.

but dat keyboard doe, prob still buy it anyway
Too bad the G4 doesn't have a bigger battery. My wife has one, and she is constantly trying to keep it charged. It runs pretty hot for some reason too.

I don't disagree there won't be this temptation. One scenario worries me a bit insofar if the BB initial order run is on the low side, they and the carriers may attempt to gouge the initial buyers, with the intention of lowering the price when the next stock arrives. I think this could seriously backfire on them. However, I really believe they haven't decided their pricing yet. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during those discussions
