I raised this same question in another thread (the more the merrier), and I think this goes to show a lot of us would like the STV100-3 model.
I realize it will probably mean ordering from Hong Kong (or eBay/Amazon vendor) instead of shopblackberry or an American carrier.
But I think it's worth the extra wait to get this model.

In previous devices, do the ones that support more bands use more battery? I.e., would the -1 have better battery life?

Are the extra bands geared towards Europe or Asia?

Any word on whether the -3 will support wireless charging.

I've never heard that supporting more bands is worse for battery life. But maybe someone else can answer that.

For sure the extra bands are for outside North America.

For sure it supports wireless charging (if I had the link to the other stv100-3 thread I'd post it, I asked the same question there and someone posted a link that showed it had the same features as the -1 with the only difference being all the extra bands.)

Do you know of a handy reference for what countries are / are not supported with the -1 variant? (and the -3 variant)?

STV100-3 will probably be the "World"-model of the phone, the Version, which is able to use the most frequencies against the other models.

It's likely that it will be sold in Europe since most world phones are sold in Europe. On thing I love by living Over here.

..But we pay more for the phone. I don't know the canadian oder the US tax-rates but with the german 19% VAT on top of the CAD or USD price we would pay only 730 against this 799 pricetag BlackBerry have given to our PRIVs.

You not only have to know what country your in but also your provider. Click on your country and provider below

Then see which of the phones below you need (image courtesy from another user here (forgot their name, sorry))

Seems like it would be cheaper for them to make only one model. It would certainly help if they needed to balance inventory.

I also thought it would be easier to make one device that has everything. Maybe carriers or regulatory bodies in certain countries restrict certain bands? Wish the Universal model was released first.

Looks like I'm going to have my Priv shipped from Malaysia or Hong Kong (somewhere in Asia).

Once these things get distributed there will be a way to get them, at least you have the best model coming right to you.

But this fiasco with the Canadian model has taught me to be cautiously optimistic about it.

Supposedly the STV100-3 does NOT have wireless charging. The Priv review on the CrackBerry homepage has the details. Read the comments section for details.

Yeah up there where I said -3 has wireless charging I got from two websites but since then about a dozen websites say it does not have wireless charging.

Definitely be careful when ordering at this point to be sure.!
