I assume the motherboards between the -1 and -3 the same, so does anyone know if I can buy an internal wireless pad?

Probably, but intuitively thinking, it probably won't work, unless you can find the exact qi pad component used or exact substitute.

Battery on Priv is a finicky thing, the stock wireless charging is already very touchy and just barely sometimes works. I think it needs the stronger rapid charging qi.

Mine usually consumes power using it.

When I had the priv, I spend load of time and money buying and returning to Amazon all sorts of wireless chargers thing to get it to work on my PRIV

It's not good. The phone starts to charge then as it gets hot, it slows down to the point it no longer charges but uses power! You will wake up in the morning not at 100% power.

It's a joke. I think they just put it in there to be able to say they have it. Looks like a marketing decision and the engineers just slapped it in there without much thought.

The whole phone now seems like it was made that way. Designed and tested in isolation. Typical manufacturing faux pas

I have two completely different wireless chargers, both bought on Amazon, which work perfectly with my Priv. I have the STV100-1.

Buffer93, could you list those Amazon purchases, or perhaps the specific models?

    Many thanks.

I have an STV100-3, so no wireless charging, but if the info is usefull for anybody else, I recently purchased a QuickCharge 3.0 charger ( Aukey) and the charging time is excellent. Big difference to the stock charger for cheap.

I use this one, works great. Course NO wireless charger on any brand is going to be as fast as a good wired connection.

Also have a Spigen 3 coil, 45 degree stand that works well, but is a bit touchy about phone placement.
If you purchased a single or dual coil, you might as well throw it away. And if you bought one without a power supply, as most of them are sold, it's imperative that you use a quality, minimum 2 amp charge block or power supply.

Hi, Wezard, thanks for weighing in. I'm waiting for this to arrive, since in its reviews, a user said it worked well with his Priv as long as the Prib bottom ran along the wireless's bottom.

I was planning to use the Priv charger with this. Is that not a good idea?

    Edit: Apparently, not: https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/201...v-much-faster/

My wife's Samsung S5 appears to be 2 amp charger. Might that work?

I'm guessing you will have to place the Priv with the top hanging off the pad and somewhat to the right. The charge pickup coil on the Priv is in the bottom 2/3 of the device, and apparently isn't centered.
Your wifes charge block will work, but then what is she going to use? If you have to swap wires on the charge block, you are kinda defeating the purpose of wireless.
I can't recommend the Samsung 45 degree enough, since it's a stand, you don't have to to worry about alignment, just drop it on it and go. You can also put it on your desk or nightstand, and actually use it without picking it up.
I know it's kinda pricey, compared to the el cheapo's, but it does come with a charge block, which offsets that a little bit.

Oh, I don't care if she can't call anymore--no, I'm kidding and I ended up ordering this to go with the charger:

I hadn't realized that the Samsung 45 came with a charger, and so I may revisit this stuff, perhaps send it back, and go with the Samsung 45.

I'm coming from a Nokia E7, the last of the Communicators, so my learning curve is a steep one.

I'm assuming you have verified that your device will support wireless charging. None of the factory Canadian did, I'm not sure about the carrier devices up there.
Or are you even in Canada? I think the OP was, and now I'm confused.

The samsung convertible wireless fast charger works nicely. Never needed to adjust the position of the phone it always connects.

This arrived and is working fine:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...UvbUpU13090491

Not as sleek as the Samsung 45, but I think I'll keep it. Connects easily and lies flat, which is what I needed on my small night stand--out of the way for overnight charging. The charger also works through this case:

In the morning, the phone is warm, but not scary-warm.

Most phones get warm while charging, regardless of how it's charging.
