I think they still have a high price for two reasons:

    1. It's still the only modern portrait slider on the market

    2. There's only so much depreciation a device will go through. I don't think we'll see Priv's going for $30 any time soon.
Thats right about the slider just not sure were the thirty dollars price tag got involved :-)

Well every device will lose its value quickly the first two years.

But the hardware and form factor of the Priv makes it worth at least $80 on the used market in my opinion.

Too supply and demand comes into play.... they aren't making them anymore. And as you said they are the only modern slider.
That is: "...they are the only modern sliders in the wrong direction"

Sorry, but yes sad that not both directions are available, to suit a wider audience.

Most of the auctions for the priv I've seen start around the £60-70 sterling some even more.

Actually though slim, I see the chances of a K3 as substantially higher than a Priv II.
A K3 would be just another slight evolution over the K1.
A Priv II would be starting (almost) from scratch for TCL with whatever info and moulds they got from BB back then.

Who is going to manufacture this Priv2? BlackBerry don't make phones anymore and TCL doesn't want to take on more expensive BlackBerry licencing. I don't see it happening.

Well whoever makes the K2? Why would that be a problem?

And why do you guys think the K3 won't show up?

It appears that BBMo/TCL is doing the minimum requirements per the BB licensing agreement to just be in compliance.

It also further appears that BBMo/TCL is just unloading as-is Oreo Key2 inventory while it still can. Many of us here gave BBMo/TCL up to an extra six months of latitude from when Key2 replacement should have been introduced.

It also further appears that BBMo/TCL is not going to release Pie for the Key2 probably for disputed payments to BB which, of course, is using as leverage.

At this point, it appears from a simple educated guess perspective, the Key2 and Key2 LE are the end.

wow, i did not know these facts.
    sounds terrible.
so will this be the end of BB phones?
    as in physical keyboard phones?

    i sure hope not.

Well hopefully PKB phones don't necessarily have to be BB's.

The BlackBerry name carries enormous toxicity in the eyes of US carriers and the general public.

A PKB that's not advertised as a "BlackBerry Keyboard" (even if it is BB patent technology) could maybe have some more success.

Well at least it looks like the end of GLOBAL availability of BB branded phones. Others also have BB licenses. In Indonesia one called BB Merah Putih and for south Asia Optiemus

But there still are others that are offering physical keyboards. A startup and two crowdfunded. The tilted landscape slider fxtec.com/Pro1 , the clamshell landscape store.planetcom.co.uk/products/cosmo-communicator and perhaps most appealing for the BB-audience a ultrawide Passport like slab unihertz.com

BBMP and BBOptiemus appear to be effectively done as well.
