It's huge. There are quite a few "mini" models out there sporting the same specs (almost) as the drug big slab break andmates (Sony, HTC, Motorola), but really pocket friendly with displays around 4.5+ in and good cameras... so why not ?? Even the apples have 2 sixes to cover the field... so... & if JC thinks a smaller keyboard isn't gonna work, someone show him a HP Pre3 or even a HP Veer with great easy to use keyboards !!!

Hmm, I think for now a screen size range of 5.4 - 5.7, is respectable.

Let's make a little phone and name it the Veer! Because it veers away from traditional ideals!!

i'd be good with a 4,5" - it would much bigger than my Pre2 daily driver atm, but not as huge as PRIV is now.

I agree, Priv is the size of a iphone 6 plus. I rather have a phone that I can use 1-handed.

How small would the pkb be though.

Since the width is fixed by the necessary keyboard size, all you can do is reduce the height of the device by changing the aspect ratio of the screen.

A 1:1 screen on a slider might look pretty strange. And with a 1:1 screen, you'd have to say goodbye to the vkb.

Untrue IMHO... both Pre3 & even smaller Veer are very pleasant to type on...

Many people are already complaining that the keyboard feels cramped as it is. I think people's expectations have grown since the old days.

Again I disagree... I believe it is the design of it that is poor... the Size is not the sole factor... the Pre3 was way smaller than, for example, the passport, but I could type on it without looking in the dark; not at all so with the passport...

I could type fine on all my Pre's (1,2 and 3) - the 3 was huge. I type better on it than my q10 and even classic.

It's layout, key shape, push feel etc.

I have a Pre3 and while the keyboard feels much better than the Priv's in terms of tactile feedback and keypress depth, I think most people here would find it pretty cramped, especially if their ideal is the Bold 9900, Q10, or Classic.

Would love a priv mini with a 4-5 inch screen. 5" is my absolute max... Together with a decent 4 core cpu, 2-3gb ram and 1080p screen and you have a perfect phone. Price ca 400

And yes you can make decent small pkb.. I used a pre, pre3 and even veer for a long time and didnt have a problrm with it. My girlfriend is still using the veer because she loves the small size. i hope we will get smaller phones in the future again....

I agree that the Priv screen is a bit small and is one reason why I still hang on to my Note 4. If they could make a wider screen that is also thinner, I would be very happy. Ideally a taller passport would be perfect. For many of us, these devices are not used much as phones, rather portable, mini-computers that are primarily used for e-mail, sms, navigation, etc.

I think they should make a priv 2 mini with a 5 inch screen and a normal priv 2 with a 5.7 inch screen.

So they both have qwerty pkb. That's where the similarities end.

If they could take the q10 keyboard and build around that, the phone would be slightly smaller but feel even smaller in hand without having a tiny unusable keyboard.
