I had a Priv shortly after release, I reluctantly gave up the best phone ever (Passport). I really wanted to like the Priv but mine would get insanely hot and the battery would go fast. Are these issues worked out and are these solid phones now? I would like to consider getting one again of so. Thanks for the help.

Marshmallow update largely fixed the heating issues but alas, that's not universal. Some people still report it.

Thanks for the info. Is there a ryhme or reason to it? Are there special model numbers that tend to do better or just purely luck of the draw?

I believe it is app dependent. My Priv heats up when I play Candy Crush. Battery drains quickly too on Canday Crush.

Mine rarely heats up. Big app installs or OS updates sure, but most phones do that. No battery life issues. -1 for me factory unlocked.

I just had insurance replace my Q10 that died with a PRIV, got it on Monday and so far, really impressed. It loaded Marshmellow on Monday night, phone got a little warm, no where near "HOT", and first full day yesterday I charged it up about 10pm and was at 55% after first full day. So far today, I'm at 80% and its almost 8pm, so I've had no issues with the battery

I like mine. I left a Passport that I liked very much. Priv has been good. Bought a new unlocked model from dailysteals.com.

It's the 808 SoC. Design flaw.

The phone gets hot under heavy load, like any other phone. I think it's very noticeable on the priv because of the processor being used, and because there isn't anything really shielding the heat from the back of the phone.

During normal every day usage, you won't notice any problems at all with it. The only times it will get hot is when you first get it setup, whenever you are downloading large items or browsing very heavy sites (which download a lot of data) and if you are in a very bad reception area.

Battery life is about 60-70% of the passport battery life, for me anyway. If I switch to a different device this would be the reason.

How come the 5X didn't face this issue?

Most of the other phones with SD 808 and 810 also heat up to around the same temperatures as Priv. Take a look under emissions.

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/LG-G4-....144672.0.html

And not a single one of those has the disadvantage of being made of two thin parts.
Sure, there are exceptions like 5X, but it's a fact that that chip did like heating up; 810 would probably have been even worse, and there was no third high-end option at the time. Waiting another 5 or 6 months to release it with 820 would probably bring even more rage with this wonderful fanbase of BB's.

edit: btw, a bit offtopic, can someone please explain how does this forum decide whether or not it will put my links nicely and fetch the webpage title? Half my posts end up with just the address, and every time I think I'll start manually putting titles it decides to do it on its own. Then it surprises me again like this time.

It appears to be random because some people use their phones in certain ways that will cause more Heating up than others. If everyone used their phones in an identical manner with the exact same apps and Launchers, you would find the issues to be more consistent or widespread.

Still shaking down the new software, perhaps. I was having trouble posting photos and it seems fixed.

Near the bottom of the entire forum list, there's a forum for CB issues and you can comment on the new software for CB. Report bugs or issues there!

I use Tapatalk because the CB app causes lag and battery burn on my phone. Don't know why. Downloaded it and everything went wonky. Deleted the app and everything is fine. So Tapatalk wins for me.

My post was about CB in a PC browser, but thanks for the suggestion about using Tapatalk. Btw, why not simply use it through a browser on the phone? Nothing wrong with that in my experience.

Tapatalk can be set so I know when someone has quoted me or responded to a post I have made. It also loads forums faster than by going thru the browser.

If you take Android Lag as normal, then there are not many bugs. As some said before, 808SoC isn't perfect, and early batches of the priv seem to be more afected to the overheating issue (mine does overheat in summer hot days quite easy)
