At least they fixed the font somewhat. BlackBerry is finally stirring up some controversy. This is a step in the right direction in my opinion.

It is. A "Company" much like "staff" can/should be plural.

It's absolute correct English. "We" is the subject of the first sentence. It's plural so the correct verb is "are." "BlackBerry" is the subject of the next sentence. It's singular (A company is a single entity.) so the correct verb is "is."

Prepositional phrases such as "at Blackberry" provide information about the subject, "we."

So, a simplified version would be, "We are..." and "Blackberry is..."

More info that you wanted, I'm sure, but it is correct. The capitalization is not standard at all, but I assume it was due to the typography. It would be flat wrong as standard prose.

Whether "staff" is singular or plural actually depends on the usage. It's a collective noun, and it depends whether the word is being used to indicate a unit or a group of individuals:

Unit: XYZ Company's staff is the best in the industry.

Group: The staff are scheduling their vacations for after the holiday season, to avoid leaving office short-handed during the busy fourth quarter.

No, meant plural as in your explanation for "staff". I, clearly not clearly enough, used company in quotes to represent a company name (e.g. BlackBerry) that would use the plural in the same collective way as staff.

In other words, the Priv text is not incorrect.

Company as in a corporation is singular. It's a legal entity not a group of people.
