Or at leats, it seems so ;-)

Blackberry Safeguard and GrSecurity confirmed on the Slider-blackberry-venice-leak-3.jpg

Other than that, from the pics leaked it has been confirmed that the kernel used for the Slider is using GrSecurity:

"Grsecurity is an extensive security enhancement to the Linux kernel that defends against a wide range of security threats through intelligent access control, memory corruption-based exploit prevention, and a host of other system hardening that generally require no configuration. It has been actively developed and maintained for the past 14 years. Commercial support for grsecurity is available through Open Source Security, Inc."

Safeguard, a bit of zoom in ;-) :

That's a couple of hints about BlackBerry trying to secure Android.. Do you know (and can share) something else Bla1ze? ;-) Will the Slider come with an antimalaware, antivirus, firewall installed and working in the background?

Of topic, but that first pic realy makes me wonder how wide/cramped will that keyboard feel after getting used to the Passport. I've always struggled with the Q10.

    You mean this one ^^?
Other than that,Safeguard and the BlackBerry Suite what we are gonna get on the SW side? I mean, we have seen the tap to wake (instead of the swipe to wake that I believe HTC is using too), there seems to be NO gestures at all ( :-( ).. Something else you can share? Thx anyway Bla1ze! Can't wait for YOUR hands-on!

"The porting work of the PaX patch already done. We tested it with Towel & KINGROOT. The result as expected: they all failed to root the Android 5.0.2 with kernel code base from 2014. Perhaps, we might try to make GRSEC & RBAC into the Android in the future"

Can someone explain in lay terms what this means?

I thought BlackBerry had found a way to use qnx as the kernel, what's this grsec about?

What's the significance of this - why don't all the other manufacturers just use grsecurity?

Not my argument. Google worshippers think there's nothing BlackBerry can do to contribute to android. "If it can be done google would have done it already with their zillions of dollars and thousands of einsteins at their disposal."

They didn't ;-) Still, they decided to adopt it. It's like using WPA2 key for a wifi connection instead of a weak WEP. If you don't know nothing (I mean really nothing)about internet security and call your provider for assistance for your home wifi, a good company will teach their employees to set you up a WPA2 password. A bad provider/company will not or will just tell them to put a WEP(bad move).
Even if way too simplistic, that example explain what BlackBerry is doing. BB didn't "made" GrSecurity, but decided to use it, which SEEMS to be a good move.
If it is definetly rootable or not, we'll never know until it will come out of course but I strongly believe that it is SUPPOSED not to be rootable
