Is that 3M Clear Coat? If so, does it really offer some sort of protection?

This is the most complicated and confusing thread I've ever read thats for sure. Chen should hire the OP to run an ad campaign.

It looks like it might be one of those soft rubbery film type protectors. One of which I have.

But how the heck do you get rid of the air bubbles. They are much worse than with a plastic protector

They used some sort of spray.. not sure if its just water or some chemical in it. Either way, they could get to sort of take it out and re-position the film if they mistakenly stick it wrongly. It comes with top, bottom, front and back films.

I have been using this ClearCoat wrap ever since the Q10. And i have learned to love the product since you basically cover the whole phone from any scratches. Also it comes with a lifetime warranty wherein you can have it re-wrap free of charge once the films get dirty or scratched.

Just to make it clear. I'm not trying to sell anything here. Just thought id show people what the product is since they seem to not have seen it. (or you guys are just messing with me )

Absolutely. I could remove it by myself if i wanted to. But its important to have the old main films if you plan to claim warranty.
They will need the old films before they re-wrap your phone with a new one again.
