I was on the phone with someone and as soon I hanged up the phone it went blank. I tried everything, held the power button down for 32sec, held down the power button and volume button as well. When I plug it in to a charger it will show a solid green light and the battery sign showing a 100%. Also, is there a way I can retrieve anything off the phone with it not coming on? Is it possible anyone can help me with this problem?

Sorry that you first visit to Crackberry is due to a problem.

So, the screen is turning on (showing battery icon and 100%). Try pressing the power button again. You might also try the other shorter reboots. Then Safe Mode.

Without being able to see the screen, it is nearly impossible to change from USB-charging to file access since you can't see the Notice. Do you sync with Google or yahoo, outlook? That would provide calendar and contacts backup. If you use the same BBID and gmail address you can recover your apps.

If all else fails you can try reloading the OS.

    Good luck

From BB blog: How to reset PRIV by BlackBerry | Inside BlackBerry Help Blog

    Three restart/reboot methods

The first method, which should be used 99.9% of the time when you want to reboot your device, is using the Reboot option that appears after pressing the Power key.

Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds
Select Reboot from the menu that is presented

The second reset method should be used if pressing the Power key does not produce the menu with Power Off and Restart. For example, if an app or game you are using won’t close, use this option to restart your device.

Press and hold the Power key for 12 seconds

Third method: Should your device fail to respond, the final reset method is to press and hold the Power key for 32 seconds which is equivalent to removing the battery. This should result in your device booting up successfully.

If it fails to start, however, verify you are not pressing any other keys such as Volume Up, Mute, or Volume Down while performing any of the reset methods listed above. If you use a case for your device you may want to remove it as it might be pressing a button inadvertently.

And just for an extra measure, if needed:

    Safe Mode:

The next step is placing your device into safe mode.

When used, Safe Mode will disable any third party apps or games you have installed. As a result of this, should your device not exhibit the issue while in Safe Mode it’s safe to assume the issue is specific to an app or game you have installed. Safe Mode may also remove apps and/or widgets from your various home screens when you go back to Normal.

Press and hold the power key
Tap and hold Power off (that is Press/Hold the Power Off prompt line) when it appears
When prompted, tap OK to reboot to Safe Mode

To get out of Safe Mode, press and hold the power key followed by tapping Reboot.

After testing, should your device not exhibit any issues, the next step is to remove recently installed applications one by one until the issue is resolved.

If that fails you might investigate reloading the OS using an Autoloader:

Priv won't start. Press Power button and get battery symbol with lightning bolt in it which changes to battery symbol with exclamation mark. Disappears after about 3-5 seconds then black screen with holding down up to and beyond 32 seconds. Am I screwed?

Not Sure If you are but you can try these.

    1. Hold the volume down button and press the power button for about 10 seconds see if it vibrates.
    2. Try going to download mode and fresh install the OS via autoloader.
    3. If its in warranty send it to BB and if not the 1st thing to do is charge it for 2 hours and then try. If not then try taking the battery out you can see the tear down video on youtube .

Leave it plugged in for a while, overnight. It may come back.

Thanks for tips. Further problem solving discovered I am an *****, or at least really slow. Tried the extra charging, wondered if the exclamation mark could relate to the charger. Switched chargers, phone fully charged and now operates fine. Sometimes KISS rule applies

Glad to know it's working! Yeah, I always go to the simplest possibility first. It's easy to miss that though, especially when it is a charger that has been working.
