Talk is cheap, and I bet all those nay-sayers will flock to the stores/online to buy it.
    Nope.
At least one (me) is sick and tired of Android and when BB drops BB10, I'll switch to iPhone or WinPhone.
I could be wrong, but Android is BlackBerry's future when it comes to the consumer base(BB10 will exist for Enterprise I'd assume).
I'm sure, that as OneMoreAndroidManufacturerOutOfThousands BB will die.

I know one thing about the Venice that is a market certainty. Pricing will either propel or destroy the phone. BB has a rather unfortunate history, especially recently of over-pricing devices to their detriment. They were to produce a solid sub-$200 USD phone for emerging markets to compete with Androids in that range, and the pricing was well in excess of $200. I can't say I'm excited for this device right now, as I can't see the mass appeal or incentive. Android users who dislike IOS will likely keep their existing BBs for their Enterprise. IOS users are not going to budge. Android preferring consumers tend not to buy the higher priced devices. HTC and Samsung are not doing great with their high end expensive offerings. Vanilla Android sells well, but at a significantly reduced price point. If this gets announced in the $250-$350 range - then BOOM! BB may just have a hit. But if the unsubsidized price is closer to $700, well... like I said not excited for an announcement today.

exactly!! I', stumped at what they're alluding too. It sounds odd though...make this device, then scrap everyone?
too much non-sense. When will Chen just step and say yay or nay.

The Venice is a transition device. Could be the last piece of BlackBerry branded hardware, or the last in house designed piece of BlackBerry branded hardware. Chen is going to turn BlackBerry into a software company come he11 or high water. Best way to do that is not have anyone to make it so your share holders can't wonder why. Expect to see some generic, stale, Z3/Leap like phones from here on out.

BB is still doing some re-organizing into a software based company. Hardware needs to be a side show that doesn't matter to the bottom line.

Love to see an org chart to see how the different groups are set up now.
