2 mp sucks. My GS5 has 2 and it is nearly 2 years old. Ugh. Most of the new phones have at least 5 with some having 8 even with front flash.

After finally seeing the Hub in action in the recent video, this phone has my attention now. A bit surprised at the 2MP front facing camera though. Will need to get this in my hands to see how it feels.
No release date for the UAE?

Well that explains it all!
ok... the rear camera is 17.9 if you want to go that route...
Where did you "check the size". The Z10 as the same camera of the q10, and unless we Zoom in (wich is just cropping the image), the size should be 3264x2448 pixels, wich equates to 8mp.
Well I'll be disappointed if it really is only a 2 mp camera.. Not a deal breaker but.. You know.. Gimmi something good.
I can already picture some chick (or a man) whose all about selfies and Snapchat and wanting a powerful front facing camera. But hey I just want that sweet sweet physical keyboard

That's terrible. 2mp front cameras were around in 2012. Why skimp on such am easy thing to get right. Geez. Makes me wonder what other shortcuts they made.
It's sad when a company like Blu can have a 24 mp back camera and 8 mp front camera and the phone only costs $350.
Not 2MP please...
BlackBerry should get this right now before production... they are killing themselves even before release!!!
Can't see

Sony C5 has 13MP / iphone 6S has 8 MP / LG VU10 double 5MP and BlackBerry decided to have 2 MP? Kick that designer right in the nuts sack for me will you

Exactly. So stupid. Seriously the Galaxy S3 had a 1.9 mp camera. That was a phone from almost four generations ago, May 2012.
Clearly BB has decided this should not be a cell phone where the rank and file might actually have fun with
Yes, but megapixel count and quality arent together like that.
iPhone 6s has a 5 megapixel front camera, not 8. Just setting the facts straight.
True, but I really doubt that BBs back camera is going to blow folks away. At least make it look good on paper to not turn folks away. That would be like having an 8mp back camera.
I find funny that everybody here is complaining about the camera ONLY when they saw the "2 megapixel"... why the f*** you didn't complain about the camera when that guy released pictures of the front facing camera?? I even saw a guy saying "it's pretty good"...
This proves the dumbness of the smartphone comunity, nobody cares about the final result, the bloody numbers is what matters. It's like the Android sheep telling that their android phone is better than iphones because it has more cores and more Ghz....
100% this.
I keep wondering what the big deal is about the cameras anyway. 10 years ago, people didn't carry cameras around with them and obsess about taking pictures and the picture quality. Suddenly everyone's a pro photographer because he has a tiny lens with "moar megapixels" in his hand??
Give me a real photographer with a real lens and even a small sensor, and I'll show you why the bigger number isn't always better.
Hahahaha that's awesome, glad someone thought of it.

When someone can buy a phone with a much better camera for less or equal money, that is the issue. If Blackberry views this as a flagship, treat it as such. Don't skimp out on something everyone else is moving forward on. Like it or not, specs appeal to basic consumers. Hell, most don't have a clue what they mean, but if you want a successful product in today's market, it has to be taken into consideration.
I agree, it's results that matter. If Blackberry put a camera on the phone with a low mega pixel yet it still performed great like the IPhone or Nexus 6p, I wouldn't say a word. But as I said, that doesn't appear to be the case.
The back camera is probably average at best while the front camera has 2012 specs and performance.

This article makes the case that in today's market, the front facing camera is what is driving sales.
