I have the same issue on my SVT100-1 model. I don't use too many of the Google Apps and I find that the the phone gets hot when I use it a bit (most of my use is text/email using the Hub, Whatsapp and phone calls) and the battery drains faster. The Priv so far, has not shown itself to be a stellar performer for battery life, but it gets worse when it heats up. I cannot seem to find the reason it heats up every now and then!
It is indeed quite frustrating!
I agree with you I feel the same

I have seen many many many post, reports etc. on the heat issue. Once again I think it depends on exactly what you are doing. I have been sitting here surfing many websites with Chrome, reading & posting with Tapatalk, played with Underground weather App, took screenshots and cropped them, some Whatsapp and emails, changed a few settings and a few other things that I can't remember like look for photos in the Google Photos App. This all took well over 1 hour. Phone is cool and battery dropped by 4%. Is this normal, good etc. in terms of heat & battery usage?
It's apps that are misbehaving. Different apps for different people. Configurations, etc. I hate that this is the case but it is what it is. I found a few culprits and disabled some apps and greenfield others. You'll have to identify which apps are causing your issues because they likely won't be the same as mine.
It's also related to how much syncing needs to be done by the Hub app. If you selected "Forever", and/or you have multiple accounts and multiple folders, your device could be hot for a long long while depending on how much mail/junkmail you have.

It's not only the initial sync where the phone gets hot - it gets hot during normal usage. And the only apps I've installed to date are WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.
Don't know about instagram. But FB is a well known battery hog on both Android and ios. Try uninstalling the app and use the chrome Web interface instead (open with chrome, place shortcut on the homescreen.
Also, for most people, 4G/3G signals are much stronger than LTE. Try Settings/Other/Cellular Networks to 4G/3G instead. Many have noticed a big difference.

i had the SVT100-1 for 2 months (from blackberry shop unlocked), kept overheating and tried factory resetting it twice, tried every suggestion on the site, it overheats even when on airplane mode so it wasn't a radio issue...recently got the chance to replace it with another model SVT100-4 from dubai, and this new phone doesnt have any of these problems although i use it more heavily...it still heats sometimes but nowhere close to what the SVT100-1 model did...
