I'm getting a notification that there's an update available for my Priv

Step One: Ran into the verification issue - so uninstalled google play services

Step Two: As soon as I uninstall google play services the notification that I need to update my phone goes away - if I reinstall google play services the notification comes back.

Step Three: I uninstall google play services and then go to settings - about phone - to manually check for system update but I don't have the option in about phone for system update. The very first item is status not system update.

Have restarted the phone a few times, nada. Anybody else solved this issue?
