Interesting concept, it would be a brick in your back pocket though. Announcers voice is hilariously computerized... rise of the machines!!

    BlackBerry Passport and loving it!

I think it's an excellent idea. I've often thought a squarish phone with a sliding keyboard that can rotate in either orientation might work.

It's like Passport but with hiding/folding keyboard. I actually like it a lot and I am sure it would be a hit with younger generation of hipsters.

Well executed concept video. I like how the square shape means you have only a 1 in 4 chance of picking it up at the right orientation. Also it will definitely be difficult to use as a phone.

The video does get at the heart of the slider appeal - some people just like the idea of sliding things open and closed, clicking stuff together, etc. Perhaps its because they grew up watching Transformers or something. They really just want something to play with.

Well, I disagree. With BlackBerry logo at the bottom of square you have no problem at all picking it up in the right orientation. So unless you don't have your prescription glasses with you, you should do just fine.

If you have it face down
If you have it in your pocket
If it is dark or your eyes are closed

I'm pretty sure this is a joke. There's very little that we handle in our lives that comes as a square other than food because it's simply difficult to orient and handle.

Nonsense, your fears would apply to any other phone. Even if you have Z30 face down, in your pocket or in dark with your eyes closed you can easily get it wrong.

Come to think of it, this would fit in with all of the other square things in my life:

    Square business cards
    Square books
    Square playing cards
    Square wallet
    Square cash
    Square paper
    Square notebooks
    Square envelopes
    Square photo prints
    Square notebook computers and tablets
    Square video screens

Come to think about it, square screen keeps many Passport owners extremely happy.

Interesting concept, not sure it will catch on though, people are not used to square devices, the passport isn't square and the whole idea of a slider is surely to get the maximum screen size and a physical keyboard?
