I wrote this on another post but might be relative here as well and not saying that it will or won't be a cause for buying the device. Just that it is there and has been for almost a week, since the Champion League matches last Tuesday, even before the pre-order page was up and as you can imagine there are thousands watching free sports matches and it is redirecting tons of traffic to the Priv Web page now:

"It's nice cheap advertising I think. It's seen by 10s of thousands if not 100s of thousands or millions by now. I guarantee thousands of people went directly to shop BlackBerry page for the Priv and it they at least saw it and the price, maybe the keyboard and other specs for at least couple of seconds. And this is how I know for sure :

These are live soccer matches broadcasted on net for free viewing and sometimes there are 20,000 viewers or more watching them on mobile be it BlackBerry 10, Android or iOS and if you have to watch the matches you have click on the ad and it will take you directly to the ad sponsor page, at least for a couple of seconds. Of course the ad is sponsored by BlackBerry Priv

I don't think you guys understand how Google adsense works. Google tracks the pages you go to and things you search for then displays ads specifically for you whenever you visit a website the displays ads from the Google ad sense network. You all are probably the only ones seeing the Priv ads on these sites that tens of thousands of people frequent all the time precisely because you also post here.

Excuse me but no one is searching for Priv in the net unless they want to and even then you don't have to see the ads if are googling it. I basically go on net for many different purposes and not a single one is related to Priv like watching live sports matches, highlights, news and other stuff and the Priv ad unexpectedly popped up 2/3 of the times. I didn't only use BlackBerry browser but also used Chrome, Firefox and Dolphin and the ad still was these on all those browsers with the exception of disabling ads on the Firefox to see any ad. I understand that Google targets audience as per the advertisers request for segmentation perhaps demographically, however, most of the sites I visited in English and Arabic were purely about sports, news, science and medicine, technology and mobiles, blogs, jokes and yes no p o r n. The Priv ad showed up wherever the ad choices had a banner in the site. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the ad showed up on both my BB10 and Android devices. Gonna check if it shows in safari on the iPad as well.

I live in middle East and there are no taligates here or for that matter hefty garbage bags and I haven't checked for them lol... but perhaps you get the first ad on the top as my ads are while the game is live and it is the 2nd box on the bottom.
