I like to think that my english is pretty good. Where in what language is two devices one. Also where has BB ever stated two new devices and actually counted existing released devices. It's like saying i'm going to give you two things and I count the one in your pocket as one of them. lol.

It says additions to the device roadmap... not 2 new devices.

Maybe the second choice would be BB10 rather than Android on the new slider??

    "Handheld Device Roadmap

Today, BlackBerry is announcing TWO new additions to its handheld device ROADMAP. FIRST, the company will launch a flagship slider device, Priv, which will run on the Android operating system, bringing together the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform.... SECOND, the company will continue to develop and enhance the BlackBerry 10 operating system and is confirming plans to release platform updates focused on security and privacy enhancements, with version 10.3.3 scheduled to be available in March 2016."

I'm actually happy with this announcement. I don't honestly see an android blackberry going very far. They will likely lose as many possible sales as they gain as a PKB Blackberry is still a niche device, also without BB10 all the current users that don't want android will go elsewhere or wait. This announcement means my Passport will get updates and possibly look forward to future BB10 devices. I still have another year or so before ill want to switch to a newer device so by then we will definitely have different options available. If this is all Blackberry has planned I will predict that they wont be around when I am ready to upgrade.

Unless the Priv sells in record numbers, the device unit is done. Over. Gone.

This is the final Hail Mary.

A device that has been on the market for almost a year in a new housing isn't exactly a new device.

I feel like the majority of users would like to see a actual new device launched. Not a year old phone with a new color. Seems a bit gimmicky.

Hell, look at how many people on here have been going strong for the last year and a bit that they want a new all touch device!!! (Leap doesn't count)

What else are they going to say, when they are going to release an android powered device? We are ditching BB10 and this is our last chance in the handset business?

With the shift to be focused on software, they don't "need" bb10 if they can secure android like they say they can. "Committed" doesn't mean much from them as time and time again they've proven otherwise.
I really think this is what loyalists are speculating but I trust the BlackBerry will honour their word (chen) and continue the bbos10 roadmap. Eventually there will be a bbos10 slider. As most bbos10 users demand and expect premium devices. Myself included. Although I'm not a fan of android a new slider will definately pique my interest as long as it can keep the bbos style of the contacts and calendar. If not I'll just wait for the bbos10 version.

Yup. That much I am certain of.

If Android does well I think they will cross-subsidise BB10 (for the long term gains), but if not, it's over.

Yep. And some people also can't accept that staying with BB10 only, would have the same result.

Therefore, there's only one option to survive. Either get on the life raft, or not.

I've never really understood why BB is so vague about what they are doing. Its like they have zero confidence in what they do and are scared to actually make a concrete statement on anything for fear they won't make another deadline.

Good. They should stop announcing things until it's available within a week or so.

All the other manufacturers set up expectations to have a new device or two at certain intervals during the year, with not much radical changes. BlackBerry has so many form factors (and sizes) that people expect something new in each form factor/size every year:

    Q10, Z10, Z30, Classic, Z3/Leap, Passport

That's six right there. (I excluded the Q5 because people aren't clamoring for another one.)

BlackBerry pulls these kinds of stunts over and over and over again. Just last year the hype about 4 new devices was deceitful at best. And with Chairman Chen's bull headed arrogance it is only getting worse.

To claim that a future maintenance update is part of the device road map takes the deception to yet new levels.
