Something I found very peculiar was that Dtek was branded BlackBerry Security on the devices I saw.

Not sure if that's the new or old branding.

Indeed, a Kleidermacher demo at a launch event would be nice. But apparently BlackBerry has decided that posting intermittently on its corporate blog is the best way to get the word out.

It seems safe to say at this point that DTEK by BlackBerry has superseded the BlackBerry Safeguard branding.

Sounds like a great feature, but the point on battery might be a concern.

This device was on "latest firmware" I was informed was updated that morning. And I didn't say BlackBerry safeguard I said BlackBerry Security.

But none the less peculiar. Carry on.

Would be awesome if the logging/alert system could act as an interrupt.

Such as notify and request permission anytime an application requests to use a certain permission/access hardware or file. Then you get to choose to allow of block. Would stop malware in its tracks.

Such as "The app 'Flappy Bird' is attempting to read your Password Keeper database. This is suspicious behavior. Deny this access to safeguard your data, or allow if you are expecting this action."

This is designed to happen in the new Android 6.0 version Marshmallow. Unfortunately, this slider won't be released with it.

You are prompted whenever an app requests to use a permission? Or only the first time it attempts to?

I'm way more concerned about the robustness of the Priv's claims to "privacy" on the most privacy-unfriendly mobile platform in the world, than I am about the potential battery usage of that app.

Actually not groundbreaking at all, the Cyanogen fork of Android has had precisely this functionality since 2013.

I get a certain kind of perverse pleasure watching the popup warning on my tablet tell me periodically that BBM Meetings wants to read my calendar, and then denying it.
