I called on the Sunday. I was told they are phasing out blackberry I live in alberta canada. I'll check the website again.

I asked if they have a demo so I could play with one. I was told they are not getting them in. They no longer carry the passport or the leap or the z30. Just the classic for bell mobility. He wasn't even sure if they had that in Stock. Maybe some call the west end location? I am not lying here.

They could simply be not carrying the unlocked refurbished ones they sometimes have. Don't think they can phase out carrier units.

Everybody I have spoken to regarding the Priv are all positive about it. From the retail people to my old man. Everybody's hearing about it, even talking about it. This is good.

Best Buy will carry whatever the carriers they deal with want them to carry. I'm not sure Best Buy, as a reseller for all these carriers, can make the decision to phase out BlackBerry as a brand. They never dealt directly with BlackBerry to begin with, so they can't really phase out a non existent relationship. Something weird about that. I'm pretty sure if TELUS, Rogers, and/or Bell gave Priv devices to Best Buy to sell, Best Buy wouldn't be able to say sh!t about it. They'd just stock and sell them.

Looks like they are phasing them out. I called the west end edmonton location. They don't have the priv. The only one they sell is the classic under bell mobility. Nothing under telus. I was wanting to play with one and maybe upgrade the wife's phone. Thought I would give a heads up.

This is vehemently UNTRUE! They just haven't received stock yet! I was in getting a clearplex put on my screen and popped over to mobile area and spoke to the manager! They have stock coming!

Best Buy probably won't bring in anything they can't be certain will sell right away. A close friend is a dept. mgr. at BB and is very frustrated at the way the company's run. They walk away from potentially profitable product lines, hire people that can't perform and leave the training to the floor managers. Best Buy's sales figures are not good in Canada or the US.
Meanwhile the other BB, BlackBerry, has $3 billion in cash banked. Who's going to go out of business first?
How true. I remember when best buy was a giant among retailers. Now the are struggling to stay relevant. I think a big reason why they haven't folded yet is the money apple and Samsung pay for those little mini store areas they have put up inside each store. And the floor sales people are usually less knowledgeable than the customers they are trying to help.

The sales rep at the Moncton store told me they were getting them in early 2016.
I've noticed that inventory all over the store is low. I certainly miss the Future Shop... there certainly was more energy in the stores.
BlackBerry NEEDS to advertise and push this thing, can't stress this enough.
