It is indeed! I've been asking Optus and Telstra every day for the past week about the Priv, and this was the first reply that wasn't just a "we don't know, sorry"

Let's hope Vodafone isn't too far behind... I'm getting this smartphone irrespective, but I'd love to pick it up locally.

Looks like you need -3 or -4 if you want to get access to Telstra LTE Band 28 which I understand is the band they are expanding otherwise its just band 3 (which -1 has).

So UK, Euro or HK spec - not US / Canada. I am not sure what BBstore is stocking and their web form isn't talking questions for me to ask right now.
    Bbstore have the -3

Yeah that's the one I got from Telstra. I didn't try again.
They do end up sending to their lame form for updates in the end. Hopefully they have something for us in a week or two.

I just had a chat with Telstra representative and she also said they're hoping to have it but not sure. She didn't say they will not stock it.

It's a little vague but there's some hope

Hi, where are you seeing that we can order a Priv from Crackberry... I can't find it!

I think that our only option is bbstore.com.au ?

Also, it would be nice to get the model with wireless charging in it - unless this is exclusive to USA only??

Even with shipping, that's considerably cheaper than what bbstore.com.au are asking... And you still have a warranty (for anyone that's never purchased from overseas before), you just need to send it back to Canada to get it fixed (instead of to a repair center in Australia), so you might be waiting an extra week or two.

You don't want that - 1 model for Australia network compatibility.

I note BBStore.com.au originally had expected date of arrival as 06 November, then 13 November and as of today 19 November. At this rate it won't have arrived by Christmas

"You don't want that - 1 model for Australia network compatibility"

Looks to me from the spec sheet that the -1 model would be okay for Australia?

Copied from the bhphotovideo spec sheet-

    Communications:

    Cellular Network 2.5G (EDGE, GSM/GPRS ) MHz:850, 900, 1800, 1900
    3.5G (HSPA+, UMTS/WCDMA ) MHz:850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100
    4G (LTE ) Bands:1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 20, 29, 30

    If that's true, that covers most carriers bands, right? Telstra's 850 3g, optus's 900/2100 3g -
What's it missing in terms of carrier compatibility?

Then again, I'm a guy who's happy enough with 3g most of the time on my phone and I see 4g as a luxury when I have it and I have enough battery left for it to keep it turned on...

Android Enjoyed - an Australian store - is now selling the BlackBerry Priv and shipping within 3-7 days... AU$1,000 at the time of writing.

Obviously I do not yet have a BlackBerry Priv, but I've bought plenty of other smartphones through these guys and never had a problem...

    --

    This model supports:
    * All of the frequencies and technologies the three primary Australian cellular (mobile) telecommunications networks (Vodafone, Telstra and Optus) currently use (according to Whirlpool), except LTE 900Mhz (Band 8) and LTE 3500MHz (Band 42).

Yes, they sell their mobile devices unlocked, with generic (i.e. non-network/service provider-branded) firmware.

I believe they ship internationally, too... But they do have a physical store listed on their site (right at the bottom of the page), if you prefer to visit in person (it's in Paramatta, which is near Sydney).

That's not a physical store. Their PO Box is located at the Post Office In Westfield Parramatta. They are strictly an online seller.

Well in that case, they used to have a physical store (there was a photo of it on their site when I bought my Sony Xperia Z Ultra four months ago)... But I don't care - they have the BlackBerry Priv in-stock now (they sent me an e-mail telling me so) and I've never had a problem with them.

Buy it from them, or buy it from somewhere else - I was just telling you about a store I've dealt with before that had the BlackBerry Priv.

If you know somewhere cheaper and/or somewhere that has a better deal, by all means, share away...

That is a good deal for that price but im quite skeptical buying from them. They ship from HK and not sure how long for them to start shipping.

I have placed my order on bbstore.., they have been updating their eta, so I think it should be accurate... It's easy for any website to say that they have stock - but when you order the message can change to "just sold out, new stock 10 days away" - bbstore seems to be keeping us updated though- roll on the next wi days!!!

My Priv just arrived in Canada and is now getting shipped to Melbourne! Can't wait to get my hands on it. I did the same thing with my Passport and remember Optus had them
Available shortly after I got mine. I suspect they will have them available pretty soon.

I agree with ordering from aussie store Antony 99, at least if you have issues as some Priv have had, it is easier and faster to get repaired or replaced

Plus, you're protected by Australia's Consumer Laws, when dealing with an Australian company that operates from Australia (irrespective of whether they have a physical store or not)...
